Extremely disappointed in Bongo Java. I have been customer for 4 years now and have enjoyed it up until this moment. I was trying to support all of my local businesses in such a difficult time but I will no longer be supporting Bongo. I got a bagel from proper and bought $5 cup of coffee from bongo but was asked to leave because I bought a bagel from proper (I was sitting outside). I advise you to buy your $5 cup of coffee at a place that will let you enjoy it outside of their restaurant.

I love Bongo Java and the space it creates. I’ve never received any microaggressions for being queer in this coffee shop and I only deduct a star because they never have any light roast coffees and their medium roasts are still pretttttyyyy darkI’ve been stopping here occasionally for 12yrs now and i hope it’s here for many more.

They have good coffee and food. Usually you have decent chances of finding a seat and they have a (free!) parking lot out back. If you need a space to work, meet, or chill for bit Bonjo Java is great. Lastly, and contrary to some folks reviews, I’ve only ever had good service.

Very good coffee and food in a good location to go to Nashville or for Belmont University students. I highly recommend their mocha which pairs nicely with the Egg McBongo with apple wood bacon. Though it is expensive, it is only as expensive as Starbucks which is a major step down in quality and flavor.

If you’re looking for overpriced average coffee and TERRIBLE customer service then this is the place for you...otherwise save your money and time.

I was a frequent flyer at Bongo Javas back in the late 90s and never once had a bad experience. Despite so many economical changes since then, I was delighted to tears to see that the quality of service, food, coffees, teas, and atmosphere hasnt diminished at ALL! Many, many happy memories there. Love you, Bongo, always have and always will! Please never change - you set the bar for real coffee shops, and not even a Mind Eraser can take that away!

A bit overpriced for my taste in breakfast foods, but I suppose that goes with the demographic they serve. The food itself is quite good and this is a great place to either do work while sipping coffee or to have a meeting for business or pleasure. While not the most budget-friendly for me, I would still recommend it.

Very clean, functional, pleasant space, with good service, and good quality coffee. Gotta say though, I have some serious nostalgia for the older, pre-renovations funkiness, heterogeneity and grime. I miss the days when this Bongo Java was the handout space for misfits, goths, and hippies, whereas it is now the prime establishment for well dressed Belmont students and profs. The atmosphere has changed. Probably good for business, but not for ambiance. RIP old Bongo Java. RIP Nun-Bun. RIP old funky Belmont Blvd.

I come here often and sat in the back today. It was a terrible experience. I got my food and a worker went out the back door with a cigarette in his mouth. I had to leave it smelled so bad and there was no where else to sit so I couldn’t eat my food. I am not impressed.

For a fun drink, there are unique espresso-based house recipes, but also really cool teas. My favorite is the seasonal Grey Skies. They also have their own beans and my favorite coffees come from here. There’s a single origin of the month, and also many different blends, of which my favorite is Mystic Brew. Inside there is limited seating during the school year due to its popularity among college students, many of whom live across the street in dorms (it can get QUITE packed). There are some house pastries but also pops from local shop Las Paletas. Parking is limited and parallel parking, so it’s best to walk here.

So coffee shops need to have two things - especially good espresso/coffee drinks, and kitsch-ambience-vibe. The coffee at Bongo is good, but the coffee at Frothy Monkey is light years better. Ambience is lacking here, with a very sterile look - long waits for a plain white interior with no real tie to their name in look or design aesthetic. The staff were a bit cold, and just for my dollar, no real draw to bring me back and spend again. If you are locked into a particular region and not willing to walk/drive/bike/scooter somewhere else - meh - this place will do.

Good coffee; good breakfast; quiet enough to carry on a conversation. P.S.: The menu tells you breakfast is served all day. What it doesnt tell you is that the salmon plate, listed under lunch/dinner, is also available for breakfast. Good: The food and drinks are decent. The location is convenient if your on Belmonts campus.Bad: Wifi is slow (I end up using my phone as a hotspot most of the time). Staff can be a little rude (not everyone but its been an issue enough times that I always question whether I should go back). The music is always way too loud and it makes it really difficult to get anything done or have a normal conversation with anyone.Overall: if there was a more convenient spot Id go there instead of Bongo but I can walk here so I guess thats why I keep going. And seriously, turn down the music.

We went today (Sat 8/25, 6pm). Three of us: me, my wife and 13 year old daughter. There were no other customers at the counter or in line---and no one greeted us, or even acknowledged us. A girl and boy behind the counter were deep in conversation proving how interesting they are to each other. We stood there for 10 minutes trying to figure out what to order. The fragmented hipster menus on the wall are a bit maddening. It would have been a lot easier had there been an employee willing to help by making suggestions and have a general interest in our experience. When I asked if I could have the featured Laos coffee on the board as an iced coffee, I was informed-- oh, no...those are our bagged coffee for purchase. Ok ...so let me stand here longer and figure out an alternative. He mentions two that are available as iced so I grab the first one and say-- Ill take that. He didnt even ask about cream, sugar, flavor syrup. They gave me a black coffee on ice. Great. We got two baked items (brownie cheesecake, tiramisu cheesecake). They were flavorless, yuck. Two coffees, a water, two baked items=$17. Not worth it at all. The service was HORRENDOUS. This was our first visit since moving back to Nashville after 12 years. It is now an empty shell of what was once a great spot. It was dead, only a few other customers at tables. All the while people bustling on the street and in the new neighboring restaurants. The nun bun was stolen a while back and it apparently took the soul of the shop with it. The exterior renovation hack job to a classic architecture home really is off putting-- ghastly looking really. We wont be back. Too many other great options around to needlessly subject myself to an overall disappointing experience.

My family and I had the worst experience here last month. We ordered 4 hot chocolates and waited 20 minutes while the girl making them flirted with a guy who worked somewhere nearby. She was talking about her birthday and how her friends surprised her all day long with special surprises and how awkward and unwanted the gestures were. The manager watched this whole thing go down while she slowly stirred the liquid in the cups. Ok, so this has become my regular, specifically for the hash browns. I suggest the Big Bad Hash Browns (I feel stupid saying that every time I go in) which is a large order of hash browns covered sauteed onions and peppers, and melted colby/jack cheese. Theyll add an egg for just $1 more (still makes it less than $9). It can get crowded mid- to late-morning, especially on weekends, but before 8:30 and youre golden.
