We were recommended to go to Suncoast Import Service by another local mechanic when looking for quotes on a roof issue we had with our Saab convertible. We are very happy we did!Mike was able to find not only the roof issue but several other issues (including with the gasket and the harmonic balancer) that the mechanics at the dealership we purchased the car from missed. He identified all the issues, explained how everything was affecting it, and detailed to us just how long these issues would have had to be there for them to look the way they did. He did not do a single thing without first getting our permission each time, and had gone over all the repairs with us each step of the way. He was in constant contact with us, but not to the point where it was annoying - it was just enough. He worked to get us the best deal on the right parts (using 100% all original parts), and went above and beyond to assure we were taken care of.Despite having to order most of the parts from far away (which were in areas affected by a major snow storm and thus experiencing shipping delays), he was able to get our car back to us in the time he quoted and at the exact price we were quoted. No hidden fees, no unneeded items... In fact, he realized he forgot to quote us the need for an oil change given the engine work that was being done, so he threw in the oil change and an air filter because we were new clients and were already getting all this other work done and he felt bad he had forgotten to put that in the estimate. That was truly unexpected and greatly appreciated as we are working with an extremely limited budget (and probably wouldnt have purchased this car had we known it had all these problems despite loving it so much just due to the cost for all the repairs).The car now runs between 35 and 40 MPG on the highway with the repairs he made, and although weve had a slight issue with the roof (it has a hiccup once in a while when putting it back that appears to be an air bubble but a lot has been going on since we picked it up so we havent gotten a chance to call him back about it yet) we trust him and his skills and know well be able to talk to him about it after we get back from dealing with the unfortunate circumstances back north. He was completely open, honest, and upfront with everything from costs to repair expectations and time expectations so we know we can count on him.Only downside was that we didnt know he didnt take credit cards anymore until we had already dropped off the car. In our situation we were able to get a brief loan until the payment from the car dealership came in to cover the repairs, but it was still a bit of a shock when we realized how much itd be and the thought of not being able to use a card there. While initially we might not have gone there had we known that (thanks to our budget) we are glad we did thanks to the level of service and care he gave us and has shown us promise of for future services.Highly recommended to take your Saab or other European car (VW, Porsche, Audi, BMW, Volvo) to in SWFL when in need of honest and good repair work. Hopefully we wont need any more major repairs (aside from the engine mount we already know we need!), but for everything from oil changes to other services on our Saab we will definitely be back.
