Like the selection and layout, but they are corporate and still require you to wear a mask…and aren’t the kindest about it. They have the right to require it, but if you don’t have one being that it’s after the 15th of June, they coldly turn you away and only offer to sell you one for $10. Just got the vibe like they didn’t care about my business at all.

UPDATED REVIEW: Your response to my original review warrants recognition as well as mutual respect. I appreciate that there was no trace of aggression or defensiveness in your response, just clarity and validation. Really, that’s all I was aiming for, so thank you. It’s pretty indicative of how involved you guys are in the success of your store if you’re willing to address customer complaints as well as the praises; what’s even more telling is the fact that even if you have given up on being the mask police at this point, you haven’t let your frustrations in that regard allow you to give up on your ability to receive constructive feedback from your customers. I believe that harnesses integrity and only serves to promote growth. That’s a demonstration of β€œowning up to” a misstep and taking the time to correct it. To me, THAT’S what is important for my son to grow up seeing. So we will be coming into your store this week.. with our masks on- I promise- just as excited as before. Thank you for making me feel heard.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I have the same complaint that it seems a lot of people have and it’s with the female employee behind the counter. There was a confusing sign on their door about the mask mandate, citing June 15th as the mandated time stamp (I admit I thought what the sign was saying is that the mandate was lifted, as I understood from other local news reports, my misunderstanding I’m sure) regardless, my six year old son was excited to go inside so I struggled to read the sign correctly and wrangle him simultaneously. I saw that everyone in the store had masks so I was about to leave to go get mine out of the car but the woman behind the counter quickly called me out. Understandable, of course I can’t imagine it’s enjoyable to have to remind people of the constantly changing mask laws. I had no issue going back and getting my mask, i even verbalized this letting the employees know that I had no intention of arguing that fact with them. I just wanted to inform them that I got confused by their sign which should probably just say that masks are required to enter. Again, I have no problem following rules, it’s why I still carry masks eventhough I am fully vaccinated. I have no intention of making anyone’s workday more difficult. But the woman wouldn’t even let me get a word in edgewise. I wasn’t trying to argue or prove a point, but just being able to finish a sentence without being talked down to/talked over would have been enough to make me come back in after a quick trip out to my car. I didn’t even know they offered $10 masks as another customer mentioned in their review, that’s how dismissive she was of me. It’s not hard to put myself in the employees shoes and follow directions, but maybe the woman behind the counter can put herself in my shoes as well and realize that, regardless of how intelligent she is, her sign WAS confusing and that me walking in without a mask wasn’t an attempt to be difficult, it was strictly an adjustment I wasn’t aware of needing to make on my part. A simple fix for me, but damn she was just so unpleasant that I got my kid in the car and left.

Despite being a tad of a drive for me, this has become my go to comic shop for all my various comic needs. A wide variety of product that satisfies all of my nerdy needs. Over the last month or so i have been dropping by almost weekly to keep up to date with mainly xmen, however i almost never walk out with atleast one item i wasnt planning on picking up because they just do such a good job of displaying interesting content. From indie darlings, to the horrifyingly chilling work of Junji Ito. Friendly staff that have never missed a beat when it comes to helping out.

Terrible experience from this store. Horrible customer service. The lady behind the computer was very cold and had zero desire to help us. We came in to buy PokΓ©mon cards but the woman said since we walked in as a group we could only purchase one thing? We drove in separate cars and met my family there, yet we could only purchase one thing? Doesn’t make sense that they would loose out on a sale. She was terribly rude. We are visiting from out of town and were so excited to see a store have PokΓ©mon cards. Very disappointing leaving my 6year old in tears. Maybe some training in customer service would be nice! I wish I could give this place less stars.Edit/reply to owner.Thank you for replying. Maybe you guys should put a sign up or something to let your customers know. We even called before hand and she didn’t mention anything about your policy. Unfortunately we didn’t even leave with any cards. The lady behind the counter was just a turn off and she could use some customer service training. I totally understand the demand for PokΓ©mon cards and your policy, but maybe a heads up would have been nice. I wished it worked out as well. Thank you

Best shop Ive been to. Hands down. Been an avid reader of comics for a few years now, and I love my weekly trips to Ryans. The organization (both layout and product arrangment) and cleanliness cannot be matched. The wide range of collectibles, books and games are the widest Ive seen in all my comics shop travels. Pricing is pretty spot on.Be it Marvel or DC, theyll likely have all the newest stuff. Secondly, Ive never been to a shop that supports independents so well. Great selection there. My one knock: they have such a large set of regular readers that nabbing a new hot book can sometimes be difficult. However, they offer a subscription service to avoid that disappointment.DO RECOMMEND.

I just found out that theres new ownership at the old Ryans comic book shop. I used to buy comic books for my kids there every weekend. I spoke to Ryan before but I didnt know he was a hothead. So I never saw the bad side of him. Until one night my kids & I walked in his comic book shop & our old buddy Ryan was being a really rude, unfriendly a-hole to me in front of my kids. I just asked him a question about a comic book & you would think I insulted his mother. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL! DONT SELL YOUR STUFF TO THEM. DISHONEST!Me and my husband went in to the shop because I talked to the owner Ryan on the phone who told me they buy PokΓ©mon cards. I made sure to come when he was there as I had been told by someone who worked there earlier in the day that they dont buy collections or anything worth more than $20. Ryan told me this employee was new and didnt know what he was talking about let alone what he was looking at and that him and his manager are the only ones who do that stuff. So I took my cards in. He looked at my binder and said he would have them all graded for 5% of what the cards are worth and if I had him grade them he would buy them from me unless they were severely damaged which none of my cards were. Seemed like a good enough deal he told me Id only get like 30-40%of the value doing it this way vs. consignment and he asked me how much money I was looking to get, I told him. Then he told me to they would probably be done and I could pick up whatever they would buy them for at the beginning of next week, I called the following Tuesday asking what was going on with them and when they expected they might be done. And the manager seemed to have been told something completely different by the owner who told her to grade only two pages of cards but proceeded to tell her that they werent buying any cards right now. This completely contradicted what was told to me and my husband when we went in just a few days earlier. The manager argued with me on the phone telling me I must have misunderstood the conversation between the owner and myself. And told me she was shaking because she was so upset after she was yelling and talking over me about how shes the one who works everyday not him and that he only work half of one day a week and she doesnt know why he told me that. I got upset with the fact that I was clearly lied to just so they could get my cards in their shop to make money off grading them and was I trying to figure out why a business owner would flat out lie to his customers and employees about a situation like this and I dont know how someone who wasnt a part of a conversation or around for the conversation could possibly know enough about what happened to tell me I misunderstood. Ryan was fully aware I only wanted them to be graded if he was going to buy them, as I told him Id be taking them to franks if he didnt want them. He said he didnt want me to get ripped off by anyone there so it was probably best to go through him. I received no phone call in regards to him changing his plans to buy my cards or that he only planned to grade two pages out of the 27 front and back I brought in. Nor did his staff seem aware that he had made the agreement with me that he had. Im am shocked at the Jekyll and Hyde transformation of the owner from being such a seemly nice and honest person upon bringing our stuff in, to talking to him on the phone after having a shouting match with his manager over the fact he lied to both of us. I told him it was bad business and asked why he would do that he denied saying it at first and then just said He didnt know why he said it but Didnt seem to care. It was such a difference in personality I almost wonder if it was him I was talking to, since his manager told me he wasnt there not 3 minutes earlier and wouldnt be in til Friday afternoon. So Im not sure how he answered the shop phone when I called to say I was picking up my cards after this mess, unless they forwarded the call to his cell, or had the male who was in the shop when my husband picked them up, answer and just pretended to be him over the phone. Either way He wasted his managers time having her grade my cards when he knew I didnt want them graded unless he bought them and he wasted my time by lying about the whole arrangement causing upset stress and issues that didnt need to happen for his staff and myself.
