TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!Staff and management at this company are incredibly ignorant when it comes to ADA laws, as they told a woman with a SERVICE dog that she was not allowed in the front shop (away from where the meat is processed). ADA laws clearly state that service dogs ARE permitted in the shopping/dining areas of facilities, only that they are not allowed in the area where food is prepared (such as the kitchen). An employee actually had the audacity to tell her to STAND IN A CORNER! The staff here treated her with absolutely no respect, and apparently, they forgot that individuals with disabilities have the same human rights as everyone else! Her service dog is a medical device, and per ADA laws, has federal all-access required with very few restrictions applicable (such as operating rooms and kitchen/ food prep areas).0/10. Awful. would not recommend.

Good quality local meat. Poor monthly meat subscription program and poor customer service. I did the minimum 3 month subscription for a full share. We were only given a half share the first month and by the time we realized they said it was too late. Month two they tried to give me just a half share again, upon asking they stated they had no idea about the full share. I showed them my emailed receipt so they gave me the other half. Month 3 they gave me a half share and when told I paid for a full share they said I would have to come back in a week or two for the other half. When I came back 2 weeks later they tried to claim they had no evidence that I had ever ordered through them at all. I showed my paid recept again and they finally agreed to give the other half share. Love the meat, but would not recommend the subscription.

I walked in wanting to order a pork shoulder, but not a single employee there wore a mask, OR gloves, and were HANDLING MEAT. I mean, isnt it the responsibility of butchers to take basic safety and health precautions anyway when dealing with raw meat?? Even without a pandemic?I was ultimately disgusted by this and left. I will never give my business to people who could care less about the health and lives of the people in their community.REAL responsible. 🙄

Went here several months ago when Covid-19 first hit and my wife and I couldnt find much in the way of meat in the big box stores...and never looked back! We fell in live with their meats and have consistently bought our meat from this place...Ribeye, pork chops, roast...melt in your mouth!Elk steak and cuts while in season...And fresh bones for the dogs, which theyve now come to expect every weekend! And the staff are about as friendly as any local corner market...small town, welcome feel to the place...Definitely 5 star service and product!

Folks there were very nice. The shop was a full service butcher, seller and the displayed meat was fresh and not infused with water! The red meat was red, well marbled and NOT pale pink like Walmart. Yum.They do supply beef suet for hunters. It normally comes in 50 lb boxes but if you catch them at right time they will parse it to you. (I was able to get 10 lbs for making Indian Pemmican). They have minimal displays of spices etc. I wasnt interested in them and appreciated the lack of them. I want a butcher not a spice merchant.I would have given top marks but for one reason; their place is a pain to find. Its in an industrial area and Google maps led me around a bit. That was probably my fault. To get there take Main St (Hwy 50) East from center of Montrose. Turn North on Park Ave. Its about a half mile(?) down Park Ave on left side. The drive way is dirt.Enjoy

Great place to get your locally grown beef, pork and elk. The lobby has many stuffed deer to see while they prepare your order.

We had a cow processed here, as our normal processor was closed. This is a yearly process for us and know what to expect. We think we didn’t get all of our meat back and our meat sizes all seem to be a quarter to half the size they normally are. Wondering where all the extra meat ended up? Some of our cuts are the size of a ritz cracker. I will never use this company again.

I stopped in here today to pick up some meat and was extremely disappointed to see that none of the employees were following Covid public health guidance. I asked the cashier if she would wear a mask out of respect for me and she said no they are not wearing them. It certainly makes me question what other public health guidance this business is choosing not to follow and could result in sick customers from mishandling food. Shame on you Kinikin for not having more respect for our Montrose community.

Not happy with there elk processing after taking two elk there this October we feel we only got back about half. Of the meat we should have. We are comparing it to one we bought home and processed our selves it was a smaller bull yet we got more meat out of it . Will never go to them again. we got just over 100# more of meat from the one we processed our selves no bone weight and no pork fat added.

Great place for fresh specialty meats like lamb. Staff is friendly and accommodating. I got lamb for stew which was fresh, tender and delicious (see posted picture of my lamb stew). A nice butcher met my request for two pounds of braising lamb, cut to order. Interesting place to visit, as they do taxidermy and elk meat processing for hunters. Deli sandwiches looked good, as well. Looks like my picture didnt post - sorry.

Nobody wears a mask, including in the processing areas. If they valued the community who supports them, they could practice safety like everyone else in town.

This is a great place for meat processing. They did a great job on cutting and wrapping pork, but they did an even better job on smoking the ham and hocks. Superb! They always have a nice selection of beautiful steaks, and the place is sparkling clean and well done.

1) went in 7/3/2020 & NONE of the employees were wearing masks as required during the COVID pandemic & 2) paid $55 for 10# of hamburger meat & it was watered down. I am disappointed because that is not what their usual product is.

We have had our 1/2 beef processed at Kinikin meats for at least 5yrs now and have been very pleased with the results, I am not a farmer or a butcher and they take the time to make sure we get exactly what we want. I give them five stars wishing there were 10

Had we known ahead of time of the poor experiences friends and family have had with Kinikin before entrusting them with our Elk, we would never have taken our animal there. This was not a lesson either of us wouldve chosen to learn by experience and we dont want anyone else to have to learn that lesson themselves either. We strongly believe Kinikin lacks honesty and integrity when it comes to processing meat. After contacting them and expressing our concerns, they had an explanation for everything, none of which made sense. Sadly, later we learned of several other people who have had the same experience with Kinikin and will also never return or recommend their services. We highly recommend doing your research before entrusting this company and if possible, using someone else altogether.

I tried to purchase some organ meat to use in a raw dog food. I called on a Wednesday to see if I could get some and was told they would call me back and let me know what they had. I waited until Friday for a call but never got one. When I called to ask about my order I was told that they didn’t have it, which would have been nice to know earlier in the week so I could order from someone else. Also after I was told that I was put on hold for ‘another call’ and nobody ever got back to me.
