The food was decent. It was not anything special. I usually love this place but this time the food fell short. The staff members messed up my order and I had to let them know, so they could rectify the situation. They were going to give me onion rings instead of the sweet potato fries I ordered, my mom is allergic, which is why I could not accept them. Also, I did not like the coconut custard pie as it was too dry and it was not worth the $4.
Really attentive service and fun and friendly girls at the register. Food was good diner food with reasonable prices. Turkey club wasnt dry and was satisfying. Would return.

Today was my first experience. The horrible waitress didnt provide her name but my order # was patio 101. She never checked on us after our food came out. The hostess was called to bring us additional drinks. The waitress was upset because we asked the hostess for beverages. She brought the beverages and she threw the excess juice off her serving tray on the ground near my feet. It splashed on me and a nearby customer. Lastly, we asked for a takeout tray and check. She slams both items on the table. We were done 20 minutes ago but she kept ignoring our table. The bus boy was so nice he took our check inside and another nice waitress brought our card back. She asked us to speak to the owner. We left because he looked very busy. The food was good and I will try this place again.
You will be delighted with the presentations, quality and quantity of food. Eating outside was so delightful. Chris the owner was more than welcoming. It was a great place for lunch and you sure should try it. Parking around the corner was not a problem.

The corned beef hash and eggs were delicious. The blueberry pancakes were large and cooked perfectly. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Refilled my coffee and water without asking her to do so. Didnt rush me to finish my meal. Very positive first visit. Ill be back.
Very unfortunate that the manager was so rude to me, because the food is good and the wait staff work hard. There were two dead bugs in my girlfriends soup that did not land in it while we were outside eating, so I kindly requested for another soup; a reasonable request considering the gross circumstance. To this, the manager sarcastically replied You do know were outside right? What are you asking for? Ive also seen this person be quite rude to the wait staff on a separate occasion. Dissapointing experience.
I went there for breakfast. I ordered a basic omelet but it was made just right. The waitstaff was attentive and all items on the menu were reasonably priced. I will be returning.
Tuna melt was the saltiest thing I’ve ever tasted and the cheese was barely melted. The only reason that half of it was gone was because I hadn’t eaten all day. Waitress was nice at least

Came at 1 on a Sunday, ate outside, no wait. Very friendly staff! Great menu, lots to choose from! We had the crab cake sandwich, Cuban on a panini, and a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches. All came with soup. The Mexican tortilla soup went perfect with the Cuban! Thanks to Carmela, our server, for a great time!! Sorry, no pictures, hopefully next time.
This is the best restaurant in Montclair, hands down. The food is consistently amazing, the atmosphere is unpretentious, and the owner is incredibly friendly and remembers everyone! Not to mention the prices are super reasonable.Gluten free folk - they have tons of gluten free options including GF buns and pasta, the owner’s wife is Celiac so they take it very seriously.Any time I’m in the area and go to another restaurant, I always think I should have just gone to Montclair House Grill. Do yourself a favor and go check it out. BYOB!
Plenty of menu options and good sized proportions. I ordered the grilled chicken stack which was delicious!. I ordered delivery via Uber Eats, the menu prices were $3-4 more than the prices listed on MHG website. Highly recommended but not delivery from UE.

Lovely local diner with great food and service. Our waitress Briana was very friendly and helpful. The chicken sandwich and portabello mushroom panini was tastyand freshly made. Nutella heaven hazelnut cake was light and fluffy. We ended the meal with cappuccino which was perfect. They offer 10% student discount which is great for students. Must visit.
Decided to try something new. Chicken, penne, artichoke with grape tomatoes EVOO and steamed veggies was out of this world!! I decided to ask if they would blacken the chicken. They did and it was delicious. Presentation: beautiful. I order from them all the time. Excellent.
Like some other reviewers mentioned, service and staff are delightful however the taste in food was lacking. It seemed like the items were not seasoned whatsoever. The disco fries we ordered was just slapped on with barely melted American cheese. And the burger was topped with a huge chunk of iceberg lettuce. Probably won’t be back unfortunately, as there are so many other great options in the same area.
GEM OF MONTCLAIR! This place is low key AMAZING. Everything on this menu just hits the spot. You can tell how fresh and made with love everything is. Endless vegan and vegetarian options. It’s our go to for lunch when we order out at work. The staff is so sweet and friendly, it’s just 10/10 every time. Love you!!!!

Im a regular here. Love the owners as well as the staff. Theyve been following COVID safety protocols across the board. They remember your name, always smile, and always make food that is tasty and well priced. Great team that has been working hard to keep us safely fed throughout the pandemic! Cant recommend them enough. :)

Ok experience. Not authentic Greek. Gyro was dry with very little meat and unflavored sauce. Takes awhile to get your food after ordering. Only 1 waiter was helping on a busy day. Tip in cash, they closed check, waiter couldnt charge tip. Next time Im in the area I may only eat here to tip the waiter. He deserves it after serving all those tables by himself

I hate when I have to fix up my ordered food to taste better. Avocado toast was not good, it states crushed avocado and lemon zest however it was terribly bland. The avocado did not appear to be crushed or seasoned. French toast came in dry and no powdered sugar as stated on menu.

The location is good but the food is terrible. The menu is huge, there is no way they can execute all that food and make it fresh. Its a ridiculous amount of choices. The house burger gave me stomach issues the following day, it was soaked in a gallon of cheese, and the bun was like a sponge, youd think theyd surely toast the bun, nope. If youre hungry, dont go here.

This a great diner and great service. Weve only had take out for the past few months, but it is good well cooked food and I like the people. Tonight demands a special shout out. They forgot to include something ordered in our bag for pickup. They called to acknowledge the error, apologized, made a new one, and drove it over to the house at no cost. Truly above and beyond. I am grateful they took such good care of me.
While Ive had a good experience here in the past, I came to eat here this past Saturday and it was awful for a few reasons. The hostess was incredibly rude to us and even made snarky comments about my party to other servers in our presence. My portobello panini (a vegetarian dish, as described on the menu) came with a small piece of chicken on it. I will not be eating here again and do not recommend it.
The first time my family ordered from there it was great. Last night we ordered and didnt get the full order so we had to call back. (We didnt get charged for it and it was not even added to the order at least) but I also had shrimp scampi with a side of veggies. Im a little upset that I found out I paid $20 for just shrimp and veggies. There was not even pasta which was the reason I ordered the meal, I went and made my own to go with it. I wouldnt have been upset but almost $20 and I all that came was shrimp and veggies??? Theor food is good and Im trying to just chalk it up to the time we called which was almost 8 if im not mistaken and maybe they were just really busy.
Oh boy the burger was SO good! Service was excellent! They also made sure we were all safe and distanced comfortably. Please enjoy this nice place! 😁
I ordered breakfast, homefries, beef sausage and scrambled eggs with cheese, oh my goodness, I got back crunchy burnet homefries, dried up spongy eggs on a stale roll and half done, cold sausage, I was very disappointed. And will never, ever order the breakfast again.
Not that great of a restaurant. Could get better quality food at other diners. This place is essentially a diner with a fancy name. Ordered simple disco fries and the cheese was hardly melted.. not that hard to do. What appeared to be the owner standing on top of people talking to customers while people are trying to dine, not keeping 6 ft away. Just not a clean and respectful place. Do better. Be better. Would not return anytime soon.

Burger was ok-not super tasty. Ive had better burgers at bars.Shrimp Scampi noodles were overcooked. Everything was just ok. What a disappointment it was my daughters 18th Birthday and our special night out. There was no one in the restaurant when we came in at 6 pm, so we thought the longer service time was due to piping hot and fresh food. Not so much. Worst meal I have ever had in Montclair.
We were a group of 10 and last minute the owner was able to accommodate us. It was my sisters 50th birthday and it was a wonderful experience at the Montclair House Grill. The staff was attentive to the table and even provided a delicious cake for the occasion. We were there for a brunch and the food was very good. Had a wonderful dinner with great friends last night (12-4-2019) at this very warm and cozy establishment. Our hosts Chris and his charming wife along with the very friendly attentive staff made us feel so welcomed. The food was delicious. Im a chef and when I tell you the food was amazing, Im absolutely serious. I had the vegetable barley soup that was very flavorful and full of veggies. As my dinner I chose Shrimp and Eggplant Parmesan with fresh mashed potatoes. The portion was enormous. The shrimp were extra large, perfectly cooked and plenty. Eggplant was thinly sliced, sweet and fried to perfection. Topped with lots of bubbly mozzarella and a tomato sauce, that was fresh and vibrant red, full of flavor. What a delight!!! The tomato sauce was so light, that I could eat it with bread alone and I would be content!!!! Fresh mashed potatoes as my side, was perfection. If I could give Montclair House Grill 10 stars I would!!! Clean place from top to bottom. Great quality and quantity for a great price!!! I highly recommend it for your next lunch or dinner!!!

I discovered Montclair House Grill while taking a stroll to find a place that offered outside eating during Quarantine. I ate here twice this week had a yummy fried Goat Cheese salad and delicious Goat Cheese & Spinach Omlette. Both times I was able to walk in, have my order taken promptly and sat outside and waited for my food to be brought out. The staff was friendly and made sure I had all that I needed. I will definitely be back!

Montclair House Grill....For the past five months Ive been coming here and have become acquainted with the morning staff. One of the friendliest staff that Ive ever come accross. They open at around 7 am and recently when I arrived, I noticed that although it was bitter cold outside, it was warm and cozy inside the Montclair House Grill. Felt like I was given a big hug when I walked through the door, which is how they treat their customers all of the time. I have interesting, funny and heartfelt conversations with the morning staff and during the afternoon, once or twice have been in touch with the owners (nice people). As for the food, its pretty good! Theres a selection of what to choose from and I have my favorites such as their french toast and pancakes. I also have one particular dish that is not the cooks strong point (that I wont say because I like them so much and I dont want to say anything bad about the place).I had to take away one star because I have a pet peeve regarding the bathrooms. Theyre not bad but they do need some sprucing up and cleaning more often. Ran into a critter the other day, I cant stand those things.The prices are in according to the area (I mean, this is Montclair), the quality of food and the warm and family friendly atmosphere. Again, great place to eat good food, be with good company and enjoy yourself.
