I have taken my 1967 Mustang to Thoroughbred a couple of times now for AC and brake work and could not be happier with the service that they provide. Stephen, Jon, and the entire Thoroughbred crew have been awesome to deal with. They know cars, they take pride in their work, and they are very courteous. It feels great to have a shop that I trust completely with my car right in my local area. I highly recommend this place.

This is the best experience I have had with a mechanic for my classic car. They have excellent business processes, communication and provide great detail on their work. Inspections are thorough, and if something doesnt work out, they will get to the bottom of it. You get what you pay for! Thoroughbred is worth it.

Went for Inspection, tire rotation, and oil change.Inspection report came with a list of passed items that should see service in the future, and prices are reasonable for quality work. Ethical and highly detail oriented shop. Might catch you off guard if your old shop passes minor items or skips items without your knowledge.

The crew was very helpful repairing the AC in my 73 Ford Maverick. They kept me posted with pictures during the entire process. Very happy and will definitely be using them more in the future!

My story is long, having gone to another shop first and being told to go to the dealer. But the dealer couldnt see me for 2.5 weeks, and this was a potentially serious issue (frequent stalling with check engine light on.) Someone at work mentioned these guys, so I gave them a try. What everyone else said about them being professional, honest, and competent is on target. We think the problem (as simple as low oil) has been resolved. Im still concerned about the cause of the low oil, but thats been thought through. They put a additive in the oil which should alleviate potential issues if it does run low, and Im to come in at 3K miles (not 5K) so they can monitor it. I feel like Im in good hands. Ill be back. :)

On Tuesday I was able to get an appointment for Thursday and I dropped the car off on Wednesday evening. They kept me advised of the investigation of why the radiator fluid levels were dropping and on Thursday afternoon let me know that they had found the problem and it would be Friday afternoon before the repairs could be completed. They gave me an estimate at that point as well. On Friday, I received an update and was told the should be complete by 2:30 or 3:00 PM. I later got a call at 2:50 to tell me the car was ready to be picked up. When retrieving my car, they had made sure that there were no other issues that would pop up, and replaced a hose that was suspect, and yet the total amount that I paid was below the estimate that they had provided the previous day. This was my first visit to this shop, and is the closest repair facility to my house (a 30 minute walk or a 5 minute drive). I was very happy with the service I received and will continue to use their services in the future.

Jon was very informative about our transmission.He quoted a price for a jasper replacement but he didn’t discuss if a rebuild could have been done on the current transmission.

Nice clean shop that seems to get good reviews. I had new vehicle MD inspected by this shop and it failed for minor cracks in the wipers and a small chip in the windshield. I had those items repaired and the inspector still failed due to the chip in the glass. Long story short, I contacted the MD State Troopers and received a 2nd opinion on the glass - which the trooper agreed should PASS. I dont know why the shop failed the car but it took these extra steps to get through it. Dont come here for an inspection.

Car was taken here for a routine maintenance service. They did the job but it was too expensive IMO, might as well have taken it to the dealership. Not coming here again for routine services.

Salesman at the counter Jon kept his composure very well, despite the amount of things working against him. Service level is exemplary, and so i really feel bad for basically making his evening hell. Ive been using this facility to repair/maintain my care for about 3 years and Ive never been disappointed by their service.

Been taking my familys cars here for years. The phone always gets answered and Jon is a professional every hour of the day. Quality work and very honest - I went in with what I thought was a screw puncturing my tire. Turns out the screw was super short and only wedged in the tread - no damage done, no charge. Cant put a price on being able to trust what your auto shop tells you.

Great local place to get your car inspected!I was looking to have my car inspected for Maryland and stumbled upon this place. The primary reason this place caught my attention was because the facility looked clean and well maintained from the pictures provided online (Google). Upon my arrival, I can confirm that this place is very clean and well maintained.The staff is friendly, honest and easy to converse with. They do not seem to be the kind of people that are there to make more than whatever the primary issue(s) of the car are. They are reasonable and will work with you to make your appointment with them as quick and painless as possible. I was in a time crunch with my inspection and they were able to take it in next day and have it completed way before what I requested which is greatly appreciated! The shop owner even works on the cars himself. If your car requires more time to be inspected or serviced, they will keep you in the loop via text message or phone calls.If anything on my car requires servicing, I will return to this shop!

Took my sons car there for an inspection. They were very thorough.

Will be going in to discuss why the brake pedal slams to the floor with little resistance resulting in a dangerously low level of stopping power after they performed a brake service.

I had a unique project with a 66 Ford transmission. Though a rebuild was out of the question, they helped find a solution. Went above and beyond with suggestions and referrals. I greatly appreciated their care and interest.

Update 4/20/2021: went again for my second car! I just want to say, these people know what they are doing!Let me say this, they are good & trusted people! I took my truck to the shop because it didn’t run, and I believe it was an issue in the fuel system. Later the day, Jon called and he said your truck is running just fine!! What!! I tried for two days before bring to the shop!!!However, many reasons could be behind this but the other good part they didn’t charge me and he said i’m good to go!! He didn’t charge me even the diagnostic fees! I live in the area and absolutely will be back in the future!

2nd time around and like the 1st time, they were very professional and brought very detailed information about the work to perform in my car (60k miles maintenance work). Im very pleased with everything. Great warranty work given.Great service. Place for my Kia Optima 2016 repair (sound on driver side (schock absorber/suspension related?) and it is notable the result when driving the car. Also the warranty of the job on the car is super. They double checked my car since I still heard a noise and with no charge took a look and returned my car in good condition after that revision. Thanks

I used Thoroughbred Auto Care for the first time. Their diagnosed the problem and gave me a detailed but easy to understand explanation of how to solve the problem. The technicians texted report with pictures was also helpful. They made repair recommendations for me to consider in the future but didnt try and push me to do the work immediately. I was very satisfied with the work they did; constant updates I received and the work completed in a timely fashion.

I took a car in for an inspection; the owner Stephen along with Ron who performed the inspection and Jon were all fantastic.. . Super friendly, honest, polite, and informative. They even made suggestions of all the maintenance that should be done going forward. They are also a NAPA certified shop, which means any work done there is guaranteed and good anywhere in the nation!

These guys are honest and they are pros!!! I stumbled onto this garage when my car broke down on 95. I googled the closest garage with my phone and then I limped my car 1/2 mile to this garage. Let me start by saying these guys are GREAT!!! . They diagnosed the issue in no time and I had my car back in less than a day. Not only that but the final price I paid was $200 less than the price I was quoted. I have never seen that happen before. Ever. Even though it’s not the closest option for me, this is my new go to garage for any repairs I will need in the future.

We’ve gone to Thoroughbred Transmissions for probably 6 - 8 Years now. We have always received the best possible customer service, and the staff always take the time to fully explain any vehicle issues and the associated repairs. Really great folks and super honest! Took my 1948 Ford Convertible there to have chassis work done. Jon kept me involved in every step an appreciated my input. Most shops get offended when one offers up shop manuals and parts catalogs; not Thoroughbred. Jon graciously took my manuals and was very appreciative when I came to pick the car up! It is not easy to find any mechanics who will touch, much less work on antique cars. Far too often, the ones one does find treat the owner like they are doing them a favor by being in business. Not Thoroughbred! It is clear that they are as much antique and classic car aficionados as the owners; but without the pretentiousness of other classic and antique shops. No question we will be back!

I had to get an old truck inspected when I moved it to Maryland and a couple issues came up that needed to be addressed. Great, honest, dependable service for an older high mileage car. I brought my car in for a 2nd opinion to diagnose why the car wouldn’t start, (originally took my car to AAAColumbia car Care center in Columbia Md, who did a poor job diagnosing the car). Thoroughbred shop gave me a full diagnostic report, they always answer the phone when they’re open, they’re willing to look up prices for whatever you need done, and very trustworthy! Highly recommend for anyone, especially a person with minimal knowledge about cars like myself:)

Very happy with the service provided by the crew at Thoroughbred! I was in a pinch...my 2002 Chevy Silverado brakes went out right as I was hitching up our camper for a Labor Day weekend vacation. Luckily, I was able to limp it down the road to Thoroughbred 3 miles away. Stephen and the crew were very diligent in diagnosing the problem and offering up options for repair. Once we decided to go ahead and replace all the brake lines, they jumped right on it and the truck was ready a day later. Not bad for such a big job. It was a pricey repair, but altogether not much more than was expected. These guys are honest and a pleasure to do business with. I’ll definitely be back!
