I have used North Laurel Transmission for about a decade. Chris and his team are honest, professional, and very knowledgeable. I appreciate that he doesnt try to upsell me, but gives me good advice on routine maintenance that might be coming up, so I can plan accordingly. Theres never any pressure. His prices are fair and everyone is kind.

I looked for an honest mechanic after it became obvious that my dealership was lying to me repeatedly. I tried N Laurel based on reviews and they exceeded my expectations. The dealership told me my a/c compressor needed to be replaced and would cost about $4k. Chris gave me a projected cost that was less than half so I brought my car in. When I picked up my car, Chris told me that I actually didnt even need to replace it! That told me a lot about his character and honesty. I have since brought my car to Chris several times and have always been impressed with every aspect of his service. I will not use any other mechanic as long as Chris is in business.

Some years ago, I was a broke college student with a busted up Ford Escape that needed a newly built transmission. North Laurel not only rebuilt the transmission (and did a wonderful job), but even though the parts were more than I was quoted and the labor more intensive than estimated, they refused to charge me more than the quote. Not only that, but they also warned me about my vehicle and what rebuilding the transmission might mean for me in the long-term (this would have resulted in a loss of business for them). They are honest, timely, nice, professional, and do a great job. I would trust them with my car any day and recommend them to everyone I know.

I was informed by a nationwide auto repair facility that my car was unsafe to drive. They stated that there were several major items in need of repair and that the cost would be approximately $2K. I had previously had some repairs completed at North Laurel Transmissions and was pleased with the outcome, so I took my car there for a second opinion. Chris checked my car out and gave me Great news! My car only needed brakes and it cost significantly less than $2K! I really appreciate the fact that they are honest at North Laurel Transmissions and recommend them highly for car repair service. They’re GREAT!!!!!

If you have transmission troubles, this is THE place to go. There are very few quality shops that can expertly rebuild your transmission (rather than just selling you an up-marked re-manufactured unit from a national distributor and haphazardly slapping it on for you). North Laurel Transmissions is one such quality shop. In a time where honest people are hard to come by, Chris and his team are honest AND professional. We recently had an unexpected transmission blow-up on our minivan. Chris expertly rebuilt our transmission for a very fair price. When we had a subsequent issue (not related to the transmission rebuild) Chris worked on a Sunday to get us back on the road quickly. I highly recommend North Laurel Transmissions for all your automotive needs.

I brought my 2002 Chevy Avalanche with over 250k miles in for a transmission rebuild, which Chris and his performed expertly. I subsequently discovered that I had radiator and rear seal issues. Again Chris and his crew repaired my vehicle expertly for a fair price. I would suggest that if your vehicle is not under warranty to be prudent and check out these guys. They will definitely save you some money. Im back on the road again for another 250k. Thanks Chris.

North Laurel Transmissions came highly recommended by another mechanic, we fee fortunate to have found both. Chris replaced the transmission in our car and was the most honest mechanic we ever had. Wish we would have found him years ago! We now have a problem with a second car and feel comfortable that we are dealing with an honest business. This is a one in a million respectable business . The transmission in my 2015 Escape failed and CarMax sent it to North Laurel. They worked with my MaxCare plan to diagnose, have the adjuster out, replace the transmission, and get it on the road. After I got it back, it was still having a couple issues and I was able to bring it back in immediately to have a look. When it was first sent from CarMax, none of my info was sent with it so they didnt know who to contact and I didnt know I needed to follow up so the car did sit for a couple days in limbo, but once I made contact again and got it all squared away, they were great to communicate with, set realistic expectations re: timeline to completion, and did a great job. Super nice people, would go back with no hesitations. Thank you so much!!

I have my transmission serviced by them years ago and came away very satisfied. Recently, I purchased a used Ford Explorer and felt something weird with the transmisson. They just opened the shop and the person in charge (I dont think hes the mechanic) told me that the technicians will be in shortly and will take a look for me.Well, I regret the name of the technician, but I explained to him what happened. He took the car for a test drive for about 10 minutes. Came back and told me the car is fine, but my tires were all different and they were a little bald and the sudden shift was caused by being a 4x4 vehicle. He wants to know if I would not mind by taking the 4x4 offline until I get brand new tires. I told him yes, and he crawled underneath my vehicle and disconnected the harness and pointed to me where the harness is when I am ready to put it back online. In all, he spent nearly 40minutes with me and I asked him how much do I owe him for the diagnosis. Well, he says nothing.Wow, how many shops do that???? If anyone want to work with an honest shop, this one is it!!!!

Took my suburban Into cotton transmission as it was making noise In first gear. The tech said it was the brakes, had to prove to tech it was not the brakes. Told and promised I have my sub back by Friday, as it was Monday morning. I was then informed that they could not rebuild or fix my transmission. I asked why not it was driven into the shop. I found out my transmission was taken to other facility and taken apart and could not be put back together. I later found out that it would not be ready on Friday in fact it was a week an a half later before I got my truck back. I was told one price then told another price and then a used transmission was finally put in. The price was 1000.00 more. I was lied too and told so many different things, this was a horrible event. That whole shop was Decevinig from the very beginning. I felt as if I was taken advantage of. Being a aircraft mechanic in the US Coast Guard I’m ashamed of what they did to me and how this entire issue was handled. I’ll never go there again or refer anyone to cotton transmission. I was referred to that establishment by a friend who worked for that franchise. I will never trust his word again either.

I am not exaggerating when I say that North Laurel Transmission saved me $2,000. My car appeared to be having difficulty shifting gears, and another auto shop recommended an overhaul of my transmission (estimated at $2,500). I wanted to get a second opinion before agreeing to such an expensive job, and brought my car to North Laurel Transmission. Thank God that I did! Chris quickly recognized that something was going wrong in a way that falsely appeared to be the transmission. After some extensive diagnostic work, he narrowed the problem down to a faulty oxygen sensor!I was blown away by the professionalism, honesty, and great work that I received at North Laurel Transmission. It is rare to find a mechanic that will go the extra mile to make sure that you pay LESS than originally estimated. They have earned a dedicated customer.

I have a 2004 Escalade and I first brought my SUV to North Laurel Trans to get a trans rebuild back in 2016 and a year and a 1/2 went by and i was having issues and of course this places warranty ran out (1 year warranty) so the owner gave me a discount of $400 but still had to pay $1800 for anther rebuild of the trans. Welp as of 3/8/2019 the trans dies again... I would not recommencement North Laurel Trans to anyone tho the prices are right the labor and parts they use is trash and I may as well have cone to thee dealer and just paid $4000 for a new one.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I purchased a 2010 Jeep Patriot from CarMax in Laurel MD in July of 2016 and after having the vehicle for about a month I realized it was running funny. The truck would jerk, drag, and stall when I would try to accelerate or just while driving. After a few complaints about it, CarMax in Gaithersburg MD discovered that the transmission needed to be replaced and they agreed to have the work done. CarMax sent my truck to North Laurel Transmissions, in August of 2016, to have the work done. The vehicle drove okay for a few months but I still would experience the jerking and dragging at times so I took it back to North Laurel Transmissions to have them look at it. They told me the transmission was fine and when I asked for a receipt are something to show Id been there, they told me they only issue them if work was done on the vehicle. In December 2017, the truck started driving funny so I pulled over to the side of the road. An officer came to assist me in moving my truck out of the turn lane I was in and when I started the vehicle back up and put it in drive, it started driving in reverse, also my transmission fluid had leaked out of it. I had the truck towed to North Laurel Transmissions for them to look at it figuring it was the transmission and after a couple of weeks of them having it they told me it was a transmission hose, which they said was not covered under warranty and was not replaced when they replaced my transmission. It cost me $408 to replace. Needless to say the jerking and dragging continued and was never resolved. I contacted CarMax to complain about the truck and find out what parts were replaced through warranty. CarMax gave me the name of the warranty company who I called and they had no information for my vehicle in their system which led me to believe that the transmission replacement that CarMax paid for never happened. I also went to my personal mechanic who ran a diagnostic and told me the transmission needed to be replaced. I also went to Aamco Transmissions who told me they could not rebuild or replace the transmission and to contact Jeep because the parts are difficult to get being that the 2010 Jeep Patriot model has a CVT Transmission. So Im confused as to how they replaced my transmission though the warranty company has no knowledge of the work done on my vehicle and the parts are difficult to get. I plan to get to the bottom of this issue.

They had my car for 3 weeks before the transmission was even started. They blamed the extended warranty place. Phone calls were never followed through. It took them 1 more week to put in the transmission.. so my car was there a total of 4 weeks. I had to call the extended warranty people to get the ball rolling. North Laurel transmission kept making excuses. Once I got my back it was making a creaking sound. I took it back to them and they test drove it saying that I needed struts. I took it to another garage and the creaking was because North Laurel Transmission never tightened down the new transmission. I asked them why they gave me back an unsafe vehicle and I got no response... no sorry... no let me take some thing off your bill... no nothing.

I hate dealing with car issues. Every time a new one pops up, I get knots in my stomach thinking about the amounts of money im going to have to spend. On top of worrying about the money youll have to spend, theres always that fear of the mechanic being dishonest and blowing smoke just to get in your pockets. I have NEVER had this issue with North Laurel Transmissions Both times ive had issues, Chris has been honest and charged me a reasonable price. He also will never let you get your car back and the issue not be resolved, when I was having problems with my Impala cutting off while it was running, Chris continued to work on my vehicle until the issue was resolved and my car was back running. Chris runs a good honest business and does great work! I would strongly recommend taking your vehicle here when having car issues.
