This company has the worst customer service ever. I have been trying to order a replacement cooking grate for one month now. I talked with a guy named Ricky twice and gave my order and card information twice and he still has failed to place my order. I have called multiple times almost daily.I have emailed and yet to receive a response.

1) Fantastic Customer Service! They went over and above to provide missing parts that was no fault of their own. But they still made it happen!2) Quality built. This pit has all of the surface area that I need for cooking for the large family gatherings. The pit holds temperature really well.3) VERY EASY TO MOVE. We are constantly shifting things around on the patio to make room for the next thing up. This pit is very easy to wheel around on the large diameter wheels. All around I am very happy with the quality received for the price paid. Highly recommended.

Just seasoned my new Old Country Pecos smoker to replace my worn out, 12 yr old New Braunfels Black Diamond and cooked several slabs of ribs here on the FL-GA line that turned out perfect! These guys have solved previous issues with bad fitting cooking chamber and firebox doors which now fit nice and tight. Im 73 yrs old and this smoker will outlive me but you younger fellas may want to consider their thicker steel models. Thank you Old Country BBQ Pits for a great value and quality smoker and eat your eyes out Oklahoma Joes!

I finally talked the wife into getting this Grill after she went out and spent nearly $300.00 on a Grill Masters BBQ Grill that lasted one year and was then junk. It wasnt the first time and probably many hundreds of dollars on Grills that just didnt last. We got the Pecos. The first thing I did was turn it on every side and applied a hefty coat of High Temp Paint as the Factory Paint job was just okay some spots were missed. After a couple days and a few coats of paint, I fired it up to cure as directed by Old Country. Then it was on, I started to smoke with it and the results have been better than expected. I coat the inside regularly with High Temp Cooking Spray and every time we use it, the seal gets better. I added two Temp Gauges, One at each end about two inches above the Grate and they work flawlessly. The only complaint I have with it is that there is about a fifteen degree temperature difference from one end to the other. This will be an easy fix with two or three vented steel plates added below the Grate to control the temp from the fire chamber. It is now in its third year and I can honestly say it really is just now getting broke in. The Paint job has held up very well - though at the end of this season I am going to scrub it clean and add another coat - It doesnt need it, but it is starting to look a little rough, as in dirty. Now the good part - It cooks amazingly well and though in the early days it had a small amount of smoke loss, not enough to be concerned with and I knew it would seal better over time. Its almost at the point where no smoke is coming out except where its supposed too, at the smoke stack. I am an avid smoker of Ribs, Butt Roasts, Brisket, you name it and this Smoker is nothing short of Bad-Ass. Now, I know what you may be thinking, what if I just want to Grill some Chicken, Steaks, or some Dogs, Brats, and Burgers. That is another area where this thing shines - You see, the Pecos has a large, Fire Pit Section that also came with a Grate. I can cook for a large crowd with ease. The Grate is not adjustable but hey, any Griller thats worth their salt knows how to manage a fire without the little toy up and down lever. The Steel Grates have been cured and coated time and time again with high temp spray and are now at the point where absolutely nothing sticks - No rust, no corrosion. The Best $400.00 we have ever spent on a Grill. My wife is now convinced - Of course I had the pleasure of saying I told you so now that its in its third season and just getting warmed up. Shes convinced and even said she should have listened to me a long time ago. Now, its Memorial Day Weekend 2017 and its time to get busy smoking and grillin some meat. Think the wife wants some Lobster and I am in the mood for some smoked pulled pork from that Boston Butt I just bought -Bon-appetit

These positive reviews are staged, or they havent owned one long. They rust out faster than any BBQ Pit I have ever seen. Wheels rusted to point of locked, doors rusted, firebox door wont open, and inside rusted badly. These things are poorly made. Great for about a year and it all starts, then you end up with a heavy hunk useless metal in your back yard with wheels that will not even turn to get it out. Im Just Sayn . .

I purchased my pit from Academy, made by Old Country BBQ pits. I must say, they have the worst customer service. If you find someone to answer your calls or emails, they may or may not speak english. The welds on my smoker failed after just a few months and when asked about it they wanted pictures and proof of purchase which I provided, they then told me they couldnt help me since I was in Georgia and to take the pit back to Academy sports, where they have told Academy Sports to send all customer service issues to them. So you get stuck in a loop of no one helping out. Its a shame as it seemed like such a good smoker at first.

Not sure how most of the folks here are complaining about the customer service for getting replacement parts. I needed 2 cook chamber grates for my Brazos. I called and Enrique answered on the first ring. I told him what I needed and he sent me an email with payment instructions. I sent him payment and had my grates in 4 business days. Easy peasy, couldn’t have asked for an easier experience.
