The new manager, Dan has great roots in the music scene in the area and he really knows his stuff, which is becoming rare anymore. You can purchase music gear anywhere, but having someone with tons of musical knowledge can help keep you from making costly mistakes and really get the best bang for your buck.I was really impressed that they had something for everyone. As a former band kid, I was pleased to see that they had a great selection of orchestra and band instruments and all of the usual band accessories youd expect like straps, reeds, and cleaning solvents.As far as your typical instruments, they have just about everything youd be looking for - tons of electric and acoustic guitars, drums, cymbals, keyboards....yadda yadda. You get the idea - you can get whatever you need.I picked up a pair of in-ear monitors and some hot-rods today, exactly what I wanted, but it is the great service and knowledge that will keep me coming back. 5-stars!

This was a great experience! Ryan was so patient, and took all the time I needed to help me make an informed purchase. I love the guitar and amp I wound up purchasing. I was also offered the opportunity to purchase an extended warranty, which I did. It covers twice a year maintenance, if my strings break they will replace them if I purchase the string, etc. They cover more than I can list. It was only $60 for 4 years. I cant recommend this place enough for your music needs. Top notch service and selection! They have earned a lifetime customer in me.

Renting an instrument was easy and you are kept informed every step of the way. The price was very affordable and all cost were clearly explained. You can work directly with them or through the school. Was extremely satisfied with this program to allow my grandson the opportunity to see if this is a path he would like to take. Will definitely recommend this program.

Larry In particular has always been so very helpful. He’s very knowledgeable, is always so cheerful, and knows his instruments! If your looking for anything musical, go see LARRY! I love this store, and I wish it could be bigger and have more gear! They get the good stuff--Marshall, Dr. Z, Friedman, Gibson, Fender, PRS, Bad Cat ... Stuff they dont carry in that one store down the street. So, from a guitar players perspective, its great. I cant speak to the keyboard/drum/etc. crowd; I just dont know enough about it to comment. But Id rather go here than anywhere else in town!

Palen in Joplin is the my favorite music store locally. Very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff. The Manager Dan McCain knows his stuff and really takes the time to make sure you are getting what you need and that you are satisfied. From the guy buying strings to the guy buying a 10,000 guitar they treat all their customers with the same great service and friendly attitude.

Ty was super helpful when we shopped for a bass guitar for my daughter. He educated her and helped her figure out what felt right. He helped us get all of the gear we needed to set her up.The staff is always so welcoming and kind when we stop in.

Palen Music is a great place to find knowledgeable music teachers for many different instruments. We love our trumpet and violin teachers! They also have good quality instruments to purchase and affordable plans to pay for them. We purchased a student trumpet here.

I was meeting a guy from Tulsa to purchase an amp from and we did the deal at this location as it was halfway for both of us. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating to us despite a high probability that neither of us would be purchasing anything from them, but I needed some cables anyway. I have my own Palen in Springfield, but if I’m ever in Joplin again, this will be my spot.

Great people, they have an extensive collection of instruments and offer lessons for all types also. My daughter is taking guitar lessons from Jay who does an amazing job of making learning the guitar fun while still teaching theory and technique. She is able to make Bare Chords after 4 lessons and cant wait to learn more.

I reached out with questions on having my daughters instrument cleaned, they were beyond helpful, gave me great advice and even provided a link to purchase a cleaning product to get us through until we can properly have the trumpet cleaned. I was very impressed and we will use them in the future.

My son was in middle school band for two years. Rental process was fast and simple. Got a good saxophone. Only thing we didn’t ever get was cleanings or services, but Covid did happen so that may have been part of problem. Anytime supplies ordered, came quickly. Son decided he didn’t want to do band anymore, return process just as simple and fast as rental.
