I generally find shopping at Menards to be a pleasant experience - until they stole from me by selling used goods, poor quality ones at that. Many online reviews rate their customer service poorly. Until now I have not had that experience. I recently bought 3 Patriot brand light strips. One was obviously a customer return. It was dirty and scuffed. In addition, parts were missing from the opened box that were in the two NEW boxes. I appreciate being able to easily return an item. However, returned items should only be sold as distressed or at least open-box. Re-selling used goods is the same as stealing. It is deceitful and immoral. I suspect they prosecute people who steal from them. Menards has proved to be no better than a common thief. I gave two stars only because not all of my experiences have been like this. But once is more than enough!

Rude floor manager named Danielle her assistant would not provide nam. Spent over 450 buying a screen door. When I realized it would not fit I asked if I could go get my truck and leave the door there and I’d return in 10 minutes. She ended up saying they can’t watch my storm door 24-7 and that I would need to go back to the area where I got the item from and get some “hold ticket…” I commented that I was paying for my other items and didn’t realize that the door wouldn’t fit. She said that I needed to go back to that department and request some tag. I couldn’t do that since I already had a cart full of items. She would not provide me with a mangers information and only said she was the manager. I ended up speaking to a nice lady named Michelle that said she would address the issue. Still I won’t be returning and I guess I’ll have to go to Home Depot . When I did return Danielle’s “assistant” which she claims. kept staring at me and making comments to another employee and laughing. It’s a shame because the majority of people that work their are really nice. I won’t be returning they got enough of my money already I just really needed the screen door is the only reason I returned.

I went through this Menards for almost the entirety of our house building. They messed up LITERALLY. EVERY. SINGLE. THING. and did absolutely nothing to help us out/get their mess ups fixed quickly or do anything to show appreciation for giving their store almost $150K in business. The managers are absolutely awful and do nothing, and the only person who attempted to help me Chris, could not seem to help us ever either. I know no one expects anything from a Menards, but if you have a big project I highly recommend going to any other store. I went through 2 other stores and did not have any issues. Worst Menards I have dealt with and I will not be going there for the rest of our project.

Great place to shop. They have just about anything you would need and usually at a good price. Coupled with the 11% rebate it is a great spot to shop whenever I need anything for a project, repair, or just simply a random item like a pool filter!

Staff not very helpful. When you ask about an item, they should be able to pull up & tell you exactly what isle...instead they point in the general direction and send you on a wild goose chase to hunt down the items you need. Like Menards, spend considerable money there but if service doesnt improve I will start going to Lowes

I can usually find what I need here. They have a great selection of merchandise available. Not only do they have hardware and building supplies but they carry some grocery items as well as some personal hygiene items. Their return policy is second to none. They often offer 11% rebates, every penny counts.

My First time at any Menards. Its huge, with a Lot of of different departments. Tools, lighting, and for me, Model Trains. They had a lot of light up buildings that looked great. I wanted one of their train cars, they had several different models and tailgates. Great prices, posted as 24.99, rang at 19.99! I was very happy!

I dont like the way MENARD does the 11% discount; each individual must mail in the rebate to a PO BOX number. The majority of people will forget or wont take the time to follow up on the discount. MENARD needs to show you the rebate at the cash register.

There are never enough flatbed carts available and they only store them in 1 or 2 locations. Homedepot has them everywhere and is much more easily accessible.Doesnt sounds huge but its a pain in the butt when you visit the store 3 or 4 times a week

Menards as a store is as good as any of the others. This ones parking lot usually has someone that comes to beg for money with lengthy changing stories that I’m never a fan of. Prefer making the trip to the crest hill location

Always friendly helpful people. The only thing I dont like is the loading parking only. People park there just to park there. 🙄. When they are parked for an hour they are not loading. Otherwise good place to go. Always stocked.

Always a pleasant experience at the Menard’s in Joliet and Menard’s in general. Really good selection at fair prices.What I really enjoy is all the items they sell for wild birds. I’m big into feeding birds in our backyard and Menard’s has an awesome selection of bird food, feeders and other accessories for birding.

Not !!!!! happy with Menards they need to step up every time I go there theres no one to help and when they call someone for you they are really slow they dont have the right attitude. Its pretty sad you have to go look for someone to help especially if your disabled.

Very disappointed with their rebate procedures. I have been waiting twelve weeks for a rebate check for $233, only to find out that it has not been received/processed yet. I asked to speak to the store manager and I get someone who was very condescending and NOT the store manager, and she tells me to TRY re-submitting the expired receipt and MAYBE in another 12 to 16 weeks it will processed. So I seriously need to wait over 6 months for a rebate check? Is this the Menards mission statement? We will get to your rebate....someday?!? I spent a few thousand dollars to get a rebate of $233 and the unprofessional manager says wait another 3 to four 4 months?!? I called corporate and they confirmed the person was in fact NOT the manager so of course I have to explain everything to another person. There is such an easy way to fix this and the very first person to help me suggested it, but instead of making the customer experience a good one, the manager decides to complicate and escalate this. Ill update more as this progresses.

Best big box hardware store in the area. Lumber, rope, and chain selections are lacking a bit but prices are fair and employees dont hassle you like they do at the orange and blue stores do. It can take a little longer to get help from an employee but not much and Ill take that over having someone breathing down my neck in every aisle any day. Employees are generally helpful and always polite. Definitely my go-to hardware store for most things but anything hard to thing find our very specific you are better of at the red store or shopping online. They also fill propane tanks more full than other places that fill tanks.

Only 1 electric cart working about 10 waiting for them for one of the busiest Menards you would think they would have more I needed 10 motion sensor lights for the outside of my house went home Depot and bought them had about 6 carts remaining

Just found out you can rent a truck at Menards for fairly cheap. We just moved and needed a truck to move our things to the new place and pick up a bed and tv stand from big lots only cost 18.95 plus. 30 a mile and 75 minutes free. Cheaper then the uhaul i called

Why does Menards wait until there stock is down to zero on the shelf? They only had 1 of the item that was needed for a job and I needed 2 to finish it 😧😠 sales person told me they dont reorder stock until it goes to zero. Had to go to 3 different Menards to get the quantity that was needed. What a waste of time!

I purchased countertops and paint this evening. Staff was friendly and attentive to my needs. Paint department staff pointed out a bargain and didnt try to sell an overpriced product. He pointed out the less expensive product would adequately suit my purpose. Countertop staff spent extended time with me to ensure that I had the proper measurements. Staff was very personable and engaging. I enjoyed my shopping experience at Menards. I also received 11% rebate on my purchases.

If you dont want to wander around in a big box store trying to locate a part for a project that needs to be completed in a timely manner this is the place to go. Not only for the part but expert information from the staff. Ive used this place for 5 years and have always been taken care of professionally.

The process for tool rentals is quick and easy. Everyone is helpful and very knowledgeable.

Always a good experience at menards; today was no different. Though I shouldve gone to the one 10 minutes away in Crest Hill.. the Joliet location prices everything about 5% more for no reason.

I can always find what I need. Picked up grass seed, hose, and PVC pipe today.

So, we go to go in here and cant bring in our daughter because she is under 16. Then, I run in to get some patio blocks. Well, combine the warm weather and humidity and picking up the blocks, I had an asthma attack. So, I pull down my mask(no one else was around) to use my inhaler and a store associate comes over and tells me to put my mask back on. Seriously, I cant control my asthma. And this stupid mask and children policy needs to go! Im done with Menards.

The return policy for Menards is not consumer friendly at all. If you purchase a gas powered item (like the lawnmower I purchased) and it comes out defective you are stuck with it and have no option to exchange. If you don’t want to be stuck with an item you’ve had for less then a week and have used once I suggest Lowe’s, Home Depot or a retailer that Values their clients.
