I have been going to JDM for the last five years since I moved into Huntley. I find the service and work to be excellent. Jim seems honest, and and he and his staff seem to always go above and beyond for you. The atmosphere in his shop is laid back and very small townish, not what you get in the cold big box mechanic places were usually accustomed to. His prices may seem a little bit higher than most, but thats because he uses QUALITY parts and not cheap ones, because he actually cares, and it will save you money in the long run. If you live in the Huntley area, I highly recommend JDM over the others...

Jim and his crew replaced the Power Steering hoses which were leaking and checked the battery condition. All work was performed to my satisfaction and completed on time. JDM is the only place that I will let work on my vehicles. Jim is honest, does great work, and they are all really nice, friendly, and I consider them my friends. Dont hesitate to call JDM with any car problems, you will not be disappointed. They stand behind their work and if by some slim chance there is a problem afterwards, they will correct the problem....no questions asked. I give them 5*****.

Everyone I encountered at JDM was very professional...from the owner to the mechanics. Fair prices and they get the parts ordered quickly and work done in a timely manner. I dropped off first thing in the mornng without an appointment and they were able to order the parts and get me back on the road for the 4th of July weekend. I can always expect Jim to provide excellent service thing for my car. I love the fact that they pick me up and drop me off after servicing. Last week I needed a tire fixed. Alex came to fill the tire with air so I could drive it to the shop. I was taken care of immediately.

Was recommended and went in for oil change. Upfront about costs and no up selling. In and out quickly plus a few days after received a text to see how everything was going with the car. Highly recommend. Only thing not sure about is that hours are strictly M-F. A lot of people like to get oil changes etc. done on a Saturday.

Very positive experiences here. I was recommend here from a friend. First I was in a bind to get an oil change as my regular place didnt have an opening. Jim got me in the next day with no problem. 20 min and I was gone. They even changed a bulb for me. Thats fast service.Then I had gotten some bad news on my car from the dealership (I had a recall to be fixed. I never go to dealerships for work done on my car). They had said my coil spring was broken. Well I took it back here to JDM and they checked everything over. Yes it did need to be replaced. He got me in the very next day. That is unheard of at other places. Even offered me a ride if I needed one because it was supposed to take 4 hours. It was done in 3. Good quality work.The thing I love the most is that they are super honest, friendly, and helpful. They dont try to up sell like other places will. They stand behind their products because they know the quality of them.

Jim, worked in my service in to accommodate my schedule. Repaired all my request plus pointed out necessary issues such as taillights out and broken tailpipe brackets. Great service...takes the time to understand your needs. I bought a set of 4 tires and they are fantastic. Glad to use a local shop instead of a chain. Offered a free alignment as part of the deal and free tire rotations - better than the chain tire stores. I go here for oil changes and have always received quick and friendly service.

Trustworthy this is what I can say about JDM. My moms car did not start and they sent someone to her home to possibly check the battery, as they found her steering wheel was just locked. My mom for piece of mind wanted to have her battery checked anyway so she drove it to JDM and they did a battery test on it, found it was in good condition no battery needed. Unlike other places we have all heard or been a victim of selling you stuff you dont need or charging you for things they did not do...JDM is not one of those places so THANK YOU JDM for being honest and trustworthy.

Jim and his crew do great work, but I mainly like them because they are one of the few honest mechanics I have found. I know a little bit about cars, so I can tell when someone is trying to pull a fast one. From simple oil changes to working on my 17 year old car, they do it right, which maybe a little more expensive, because they dont cut corners or install cheap generic parts.

I’m relatively new to Huntley. So far I have visited just a couple times and my experience has been great each time. Sitting in the waiting room really gave me that small town feel. Most customers who walk in are locals who have been coming there forever and know Jim by name. These are clearly repeat customers. JDM went above and beyond for me when my car wouldn’t start. They sent someone down the road to check it out and was able to push start it so they didn’t have to tow it over. Everyone I interacted with was very friendly and professional. I even got a courtesy check the next day do make sure everything was running properly. I would definitely recommend them to a friend.

I typically take my cars to JDM for typical auto maintenance & have never had a problem.I typically take my cars to a dealership for any bigger issues as it might have recalls associated with the problem. I recently took my car to a dealership & the diognosses I paid for sounded odd & the costs unreasonably high.I told them to wrap the car up & brought it to JDM who in less then a few hours had a complete different diognosses that sounded more in line. 1 week later, way less then a 1/4 of the price quoted from the dealership everything is operating properly as diognosses & promised by Jim.

This place is an absolute ripoff. I’m pretty knowledgeable when it comes to cars and my 2016 VW Jetta 1.8 had timing chain issues. I knew this already, but I don’t have the tools or time to do the work on my own. I brought it here for them to confirm it’s a timing belt issue and for a price. They took the car in, and after about 40 minutes, the guy at the counter tells me it’s done being diagnosed. He tells me that the oil is gunky, which I knew already. I had been using the wrong oil and I found this out from an actual expert who ended up receiving my business. So the guy at the counter tells me that my RPMs are fluctuating (they were not) and the engine was clicking loudly for a number of reasons. He tells me that since the oil is gunky, I should have him do an oil change and replace the PCV valve. He says that may or may not fix the problem, and if it doesn’t, he’ll have to further diagnose. So, basically he wants to throw parts at it. I ask him how much it would cost to replace the oil and PCV valve and he quotes me at like $270. What??? I can do the work myself! AND I later found out that my vehicle DOES NOT even have a PCV valve. So this POS wanted to charge me to “replace” a part that doesn’t even exist! I thank him and say no, I’ll pass on the service. So then he tells me I owe him $60. For what? Apparently to diagnose the car. I didn’t have $60 and I sure as hell wouldn’t pay it anyway. I ask him why he didn’t tell me upfront that he charges to diagnose, I would have left at that point. He gets mad and tells me his time isn’t free and why would I waste his time. He points to a piece of paper taped on a wall that you can barely read anyway, because it’s folded over. Sure enough, it says diagnosis costs $60. I suggested he move it and tape it to the counter, where the customer can actually look at it because it’s in their face. He tells me that every mechanic charges to diagnose a car and I need to pay. I refuse, and tell him, I literally just left two shops and neither one charged me to diagnose, even though they looked at the car for half an hour. Now he gets even madder and yells at me that why, if I already knew what the problem was, would I waste his time looking at my car. It’s called shopping around, you idiot. Why would anyone pay for service at the first place they go? You have to find an honest mechanic at a good price, which I found elsewhere. You have to shop around so you don’t get ripped off. I have to wonder where all these 5 star reviews come from, because the service I received here isn’t even worthy of one star. If you drive a German vehicle, and need a mechanic, there’s a shop on Rt 47 and Main St. That’s who was honest and that’s who gave me an excellent price and in the end charged me less than they quoted because the problem wasn’t as bad as they had diagnosed FOR FREE! Go there and avoid this dump!

Oh my god what a ripoff. Im just glad I was smart enough to double check pricing before I had them service my car. They wanted $700.00 so I went to ernies automotive and he was $450.00 for the exact same thing. Always good to do your homework folks. Be smart. Seems like these guys might be taking advantage of all the seniors out there. Not good!!!

I brought my Acura in with a strange noise that I was sure was a belt issue. The guys looked it over and figured out that I was just out of oil. I had been going by the manufacturers recommendation as to when I should take it in as opposed to every 3,000 miles and I was completely out of oil. He didn’t try to take advantage of me not knowing anything about cars and sell me a belt I didn’t need. He was honest and I walked out of there with just a regular oil change. I always know that I can trust what he tells me.
