The older lady with the short hair has a serious attitude. She never smiles nor greets customers. She speaks to you like your desperate to sell to them, nor does she care if you do. She is not knowledgeable in current nor high end designer brands. She low balls you then gives snide remarks when you question her offer. She so rudely told me I am not obligated to take her offer and tossed my bag on the counter. Because of her we will never spend our money, sell or step foot in that store again! She should never be in Customer Service. She is the worst representation for any Company, with that stank attitude! Fire her already!

Great selection of items in new to gently used conditions. The staff is very personable and accommodating. The only negative is they only offer a very limited exchange policy and no refunds at all. That’s a negative for me, as a mom shopping for teenagers.

Terrible customer service … I’ve shopped here before and sold here before I never had a terrible experience until today. I called and asked how long it would be for selling to the store. The associate informed me they stop buying 2 hours before although the website shows they stop 1 hour before. I asked her why does the website say different was it just a busy day for you guys today that you had to end earlier? She then huff and puff and hung up the phone. I called back and asked to speak to a a manger she said we don’t allow that to happen we don’t give out that information. I asked for her name (the employee I am speaking to) and she said we don’t give out that information either.I then called the university store which by the way it was like night and day the associate answered the phone and greeted me with his name and kindly allowed his manager to get on the phone. I shared with them my experience at the Huntersville location. The manager there educated me that each store is franchise so they have different policies however the customer service is unacceptable.Do this business a favor and provide more customer service training to your employees.

0 STARS IF I COULD !If you take your time and look into the store half of the clothes are ugly fuzzy and outdated!When you bring them trending new fashion styles they dont take it because “it wont sell wel” BRAND NEW ITEMS AT THAT !!!!! How is it that brand new items with tags on it that look really good will not sell well but old good will stuff will? A JOKE

Don’t get fooled by all the good reviews, this place begs its customers to write good reviews promising them $5 off their purchases, that should tell you enough about this sad business, the manager constantly has a terrible attitude and verbally abuses their employees and has had conflicts with customers before, very professional right? anyways, clothes are over priced and management is very poor, all the staff is friendly (except management)but these teenagers don’t get paid what they deserve, specially when it comes to dealing with people like Emily, the store manager.Go to Platos closet, you’ll get a better deal and better experience :)

The staff show VERY clear prejudice in who they want to make comfortable in this store and who they dont. Some are greeted with smiles and politeness and an urgency to help/assist ... others are ignored and not offered any assistance.You know EXACTLY what Im saying. This stores team needs a diversity and inclusion training URGENTLY. It is unacceptable to treat patrons of various backgrounds differently. Its 2021 - get it together.

Came into sell with items clean and on hangers in a nice suit case and they refused to look even at them. Such a waste of time, after I planned my whole day around this !!

Terrible customer service on the regular. Rude, belittling, prejudice, and penny pinching. Some of the employees are really good energy people, so it lures me back in until I meet a grinch again. Its like they have to find at least one rude person to staff lol. University and Pineville branches are super awesome if you need a replacement for this spot.

I have loved going to Uptown Cheapskate for years, my 5 sisters and I love to trade our clothes out every once in a while with little hassle. I recently went into shop real quick on Mothers Day for a few dresses, my mom was watching my son for me so I could run some errands alone. The customer service while I was there was horrific, truly. I will never be back ever again. The store was a ghost town, maybe one or two other customers in there shopping. I was literally harassed by 4 different employees to put on a face mask. The young man specifically was so rude and uneducated. When I tried to explain that I had a medical exemption, the young man laughed in my face and said he didnt know what that was. When I pulled out proof on my phone of my medical exemption and a copy of the federal laws protecting citizens with medical exemptions he laughed straight at me and made fun of me for being prepared with documents! He told me they do not listen to federal law, only their store policy which clearly he just is ignorant and does not understand that federal law supersedes every state law and private business policy. He said it was his manager who was really strict about it and watches the cameras, so I asked to speak to a manager to which he said the manager wasnt there, he said a supervisor was there and I asked to speak to that person but he said I couldnt because they were busy. Finally the supervisor came over and again tried to explain, she was very rude and asked what my exemption was for (severe asthma, pregnancy and anxiety) but I told her you cannot demand private medical information, as its against HIPPA. Again, so rude and uneducated didnt know what HIPPA even was. When I tried to show her my medical form she freaked out and told me to get back 6 feet! The guy said they couldnt serve me and literally made leave the items I was holding and leave the EMPTY store. Truly terrible experience. I will never be back.

Walked in here with a bin of clothes to be sold. Never been here before and the lady as soon as I walked in said “your clothes need to be folded.” And I said “okay I’m sorry” and she said “they need to be folded” If they wanted them folded so bad they should advertise that more and don’t need to be so rude about it. I like being able to sell my clothes and I understand they exist to make a profit but they seem to really low ball even very elegant and like-new garments and sell them at a 300%-500% mark upCompanies want to make money, as we all understand, but these are unfortunate business practices. And while some people are happy to sell their garments for some spending cash some of us have clothes that would sell for much more online. I suppose were giving up some money for the convenience of nearly instant cash. Perhaps Ill do that instead and exercise some patience for a better profit. Its sad regardless

I have come here for years as my sister & I sell to cheapskate on a regular basis. We are Instagram models and we are constantly getting new and beautiful clothes to promote on our pages; but as you can imagine we can’t keep them all. We come here to get cash for these items so we can make a quick buck with little hassle. We have had friends from school work in here and we always had a great experience & truly enjoyed bringing our items here (especially since they donate the leftover items they don’t take). We noticed this past year the store manager named Emily Binsted started managing here. Every time I see her through the window on my way in to sell, I get upset because she is very harsh & critical. My experience has been inconsistent and unprofessional each and every time I return and see her in the store. Her lack of care and concern is appalling & has me leaving frustrated each time. She is not management material and I am so frustrated from my past experience here that I decided I will no longer be back to sell. I would appreciate a phone call from the owner or whom ever is above her to discuss my most recent experience. Thankyou.

After 4 years of living here, I just found this Consignment Clothing Gold Mind!! I wish I had found it sooner. I have only purchased items here, not sold any. But with that being said, let me brag on them!! Most items are designer, in mint condition and are marked down by at least 75%. The items they sell are very upscale and in perfect condition. The way they have it set up makes it so easy to find what you need, or didnt know you needed until you spotted it!! The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. There are plenty of private large changing rooms, and it is always clean, organized, and smells great! It is a great place to find gifts for others, without spending hundreds of $$. I almost didnt put this review because I wanted to keep Uptown Cheapskate a secret, but on second thought, I want this place to bless others, as it has blessed me!!

Don’t waste your time people! If it’s not Lily Pulitzer or Michael Kors, they won’t take it. I brought 3 boxes and bins of clothes and shoes, some brand new. Out of all of the clothes they accepted 2 pairs of shoes for a total of $8. I took the new pair of Aerosoles shoes back from them, as $4 offer was a slap in the face. When I asked what was wrong with all the nice clothes, the sales girl said oh probably because they weren’t in style and that they look to buy more up to date current clothes like within 2-years old. Oh well, won’t be going back there!

So, I completed my review and got a reply from the owner. For obvious reasons, my review wasn’t as welcomed as the positive ones. Well, the waiting time you claim as less than an hour, was more like 1.5 hours. REGARDLESS... your staff skipped more than 3 customers waiting in store for their sales to be processed and processed a sale of their friends that just walked in with the items. There is NO REASONABLE EXCUSE for that, PERIOD! and that is the foundation of my review, lack of consideration towards customers waiting and to be honest your response lacks of customer appreciation as well, your staff gets paid to provide good service to ALL customers, not just their friends or acquaintances.When you bring items to sell they normally tell you the waiting time and how many people they have in front of you. I’ve been here since 12:30 or so waiting as well as other people. 4 teenagers walked in, handled about 4 or 5 jackets they were selling, the attendant at the registered skipped everyone and in a matter of 3 minutes paid them $18.75 for their items and out the door they went. Meanwhile... we are here waiting! Not ok, I don’t care if they are friends or not, they should’ve waited just as the rest of us are waiting.

The manager (I think her name is Emily) was extremely rude. They upgraded systems from punch cards to a computer system and lost one of my full cards at the other location. I was already concerned about giving the girl my two full cards to add to the system, but trusted it would be okay. The manager was trying to figure out what to do and ultimately said she could not do anything. When I asked to speak with someone above her like the owner she said no. Then screamed at me about how she worked really hard to fix this but could do nothing else. In the end I received no solution or even an apology. I will never shop here again. It’s unfortunate because I loved this place. I am still very disappointed with the manager and how this situation was handled.

I have been shopping at the Uptown Cheapskate store at Lake Norman for several years. I always find the best deals on designer items. I love recycling all my handbags with Uptown. They are friendly and are knowledgeable about all the latest trends. I love this store and can’t wait for the Designer Night Sale!

They have a great selection and wide variety of brands! I love the sales that they have. Ive shopped in a $1 bin, $5 rack and additional 50% off already clearance items. I take clothes all the time to sell as well and am USUALLY satisfied with my sales. Its really a hit or miss. Dont bring winter clothes in the middle of summer, clothes that are obviously outdated and not trending, that sort of thing. The employees are always so nice and helpful. There was a case when the system had shut down so they were unable to process the order. We were waiting maybe 5 minutes and one of the employees apologized for the delay and gave out Uptown bucks (Im not sure the name, but it was worth $5 in the store) the hours are reasonable and in a great location. Ive had instances where I was upset about selling my clothes and getting a crazy low price, but its nothing that made me angry at the world. Overall, a great store for those who want great fashion choices for a reasonable price. OH! And they are one of few places that actually give you discounts for your whole birthday month (10% off your total purchase I believe)

I went to find my 14 year old daughter a semi formal dress for her dance. I picked out a few dresses and they let me hold the clothing till she was available to come with me the same day. When we returned, the sales attendants were fantastic even though it was close to closing they didnt rush us or seemed aggitated with my daughter taking time to decide. They helped my daughter so much with her decision for which dress and gave fashion suggestions. She loves Uptown Cheapskate. We went to several stores looking yesterday and left the stores frustrated with the styles. Today she so many options and great styles her size. She was so blessed by the time and attention the sales attendants took with her.
