I dont know how to put in words the kind of overall services we received from this organization. We paid to play on a premium golf course but the morning of our tournament, this CC team suddenly changed it without any objective reason. We were initially scheduled to play CUPP course but later switched to Hills course. This Hills course was so worse than most Municipal Golf courses. Greens were not properly managed at all. Compared to the last 2 golf courses we played Port Royal and Oyster Reef, this Palmetto Hall staff were unprepared and behave as if we werent welcome. When I went into the Pro shop for clarification from Head of PGA Pro, I was told he wasnt around. The guy told me that it was switched because Hills course was better one. This was a big lie. Why, because one of the staff who heard me said it wasnt true and that CUPP was a better of the 2. I hope someone will address the above issues as quickly as possible. Shalom!!!

Played 9 Oct and was severely disappointed. Our first impression was with the pro shop attendant who seemed to be inconvenienced to help us. We went to the range and they were out of balls. I went in to the pro shop and told him and he said go find someone else to take care of it essentially employing me. Our group played the hills which was riddled with poorly kept greens and embarrassing bunkers. We had a discounted rate and I honestly wouldn’t pay half of that to go back. There are way better courses in Hilton Head with way better greens fees. Unfortunately a disappointment all around.

I had played this course several years ago and it was in very good condition. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. The course is not currently being maintained. In some places, the rough is over 6 inches deep. The tee boxes are unkept and there are weeds everywhere. Its a shame, because I really like the course design. Its just difficult to appreciate the design of the course in its current state.

I love this golf course. It’s tough but fair. The greens roll great and are quicker than most on Hilton Head in the summer. There was very little play so we got around in 3 1/2 hours. My only complaint was the lack of sand in the traps but there has been lots of rain which may explain it. Played the Hills Course 3 times and Cupp once over 2 weeks. The guys at the cart shed are great. I’ll be back whenever I’m on the Island.

The course itself was in great shape. The problem I had was waiting to play and the Pin location was said to be #2.Upon reaching the fairway on the 1st, trying to figure out pin position #2 was impossible!!There was NO green chart location in the cart & the flag was Yellow, middke positionHole #2 the flag was Yellow and rear of the green.Hole 3 was Yellow and middle again, so what was Pin position #2???The rest of the day was frustrating in trying to figure out if the position was front, middle, or back.Knowing where the flag was located would have made the round more pleasant and certainly faster. The course was excellent, other then #16, where a sign telling us how far the temp green was would be helpful.

Played 18 on Aug. 4, 2021. Greens where in good shape with the exception of 2 greens on the back 9. We had a excellent lunch after playing. The staff at the clubhouse went above and beyond to make sure our party was taken care of. This was our second time back in the past four weeks. We may make this a weekly course. Thanks for a great course and staff.

On (7/9/2021) I had dinner at Bairds Pub with my parents and sister and we had a very bad experience. The food with the exception of the French fries (which were very floppy) and the key lime pie was all quite good. however the service was not.The server ended up jabbing me with her pen and leaving ink on my arm and gave me a water with a dead bug in it. If that was all that happened it would have been okay, but the two women who brought the food ended up spilling the dressing on my mother and then on my sisters skirt. After having spilled it on my sister the two women proceeded to joke about how it could have been worse. My sisters skirt now requires dry cleaning to get the stain off. Then when the waitress went to deliver the rest of the food she almost smashed my nose with one of the plates. My mother then requested a bottle of ketchup which we ended up having to go and ask a different person for as our waitress never brought it. My sister then order us drink refills without ice and the serve make a mocking remark about how my family must not like ice.We decided to give dessert a try and were surprised when the chocolate mint cake that the server said came with icing on it was actually some sort of pie dessert.Overall, the service made the experience extremely negative for my family.

We played the Cupp course. Great layout; not for the faint of heart as it can be punitive, but in a good way. Its challenging and makes you think about shotmaking. Great value for the money. However, the course conditions need to be improved. I would gladly pay a little more, as it would still be below many other courses on the island, with a better golf experience. The course is a hidden gem.

Played the Hills course - not great. Greens had some patchy spots. Slow play that staff did not care. Stopped to get a quick bite after 18 (playing another 9) and service for a quick bite was slow (but nice). Also replay rate for 9 at $39 is too much, should be $25. Maybe $29 for another 18. Just not as nice as Davis love course at Sea Pines. Also why tell me pin placement number 3 when the scorecard has no picture of the greens and when you ask the starter for a pin sheet - he says “uh, I don’t have any”. But Beth the cart woman is very nice and pleasant.

Have always enjoyed the Hills course at Palmetto Hall. The course was in nice shape except for the greens. They had been Aerified two weeks ago and had healed relatively well but problems were beyond aerification. They were for the most part were in pretty bad shape. Rarely had a green with no bare spots. That was the most significant disappointment. Bunkers were marginal at best. Still enjoy the layout.

Great staff and layout. It’s in horrendous shape with a few patches of grass. Even in the fairways we were hitting off dried mud. $175 a player is ludicrous for the course condition. We are traveling the country playing great courses (11 rounds the past 2 weeks in 3 states). Only course we couldn’t wait to get off. We laughed seeing a couple mowers off one tee box with them just sitting around as there is no grass to be mowed. Too many great course here to play now and the past couple days we were impressed with them.

Someone in the pro shop or bag drop should have warned us about the Cupp course conditions before we paid. The course is horrible. Greens are unputtable. Dont know what the issue is but its certainly not a case of punching and sanding. Would have been nice to know that 6 holes dont have tee boxes. Just flat areas of dirt with piles of tee markers. Oh, and 16, a par 3, has a temporary green. Not a green really but a flag stuck in the middle of the fairway. Putting not a possibility. And the mowing? Needs to be seen. Weve played here many times in years past and always thought they were good courses. Didnt see the Hills course so cant comment on it. But by the end of the round the 4 of us had had it. 2 of us didnt bother to finish. Again, players should be told up front the course status and have the option to play it as is or walk. We paid $50 each to play. Not much by Hilton Head standards but more than its worth.

The starter actually said this with a straight face. Dont waste your money here,,play somewhere else.

Both golf courses on the property are in good shape tee to green. The Hills course is scenic and fun but challenging. Highly recommended both courses for the lower handicap golfers.

From the tips, the Cupp Course plays 7,079 yards with a course rating of 75.0 and a slope of 143. If you were skiing, the tips would be rated Double-Black Diamonds; in other words, they are for the pros. So, if your golf game has never been written about in Golf Digest, you probably shouldn’t play from back here. Several holes require carries of 225+ just to find mother earth. If you’re still debating this feat, stroll on over to the 9th tee and take a look at what you need to do with your tee shot on the 472-yard par 4. That’s right, 472-yard, par 4!Cupp created the course on a computer, something that is commonplace nowadays but not so much in the early 1990s. That’s why you will find a lot of straight lines and recognizable geometric figures, especially when it comes to the bunkers. There’s a lot of mounding too, in and around fairways and greens alike. The greens come in all sizes and shapes, several with false fronts, unfriendly slopes and a lot of subtle undulations.Memorable HolesOne of the holes that brings back memories – not necessarily good – is the 2nd, a par 5 that plays a mere 468 yards from the White Tees. From the distance alone, it sounds like a no-brainer to go for the green in two, however the creek that makes its way across the fairway may have you thinking twice. It sits about 240 yards from the green and if you’re not on the left side of the fairway, you’ll have to lay up anyway. Up near the green, trees really crowd the right side and with all the mounding, the left is no bargain either. Even at 468 yards, par is still a good score.Number 10 is a three-shot par 5, that plays 474 yards from the White Tees. I say three-shot because of the large pond that sits directly in front of the green. Play left of the large fairway bunker on the left and then hit a layup shot short of the water and then a short approach shot to an elevated two-tiered green.Another favorite hole – and one that gives you about the best chance at birdie on the course – is the short par 4, Number 11, which plays 290 yards from the white tees. Hit something less than driver off the tee, short of the triangular bunker, and you’ll be left with a short pitch shot to a green where the pin is probably blocked out by a large mound. The green’s not real deep so distance control is at a premium.A good course needs a great finishing hole and Number 18 is ready to take on anyone who dares. It’s a par 4, dogleg right around two lakes that plays 357 yards from the White Tees. Playing your tee shot down the left side of the fairway will give you the best approach angle and take the water out of play as much as possible. Any pin placements on the right side and the water is in play, no matter where you come at it from. Make your par and head to the 19th hole. After your round, head into the clubhouse to Baird’s Pub for your favorite après-golf libation. Baird’s also has an outstanding menu with a Lowcountry theme that showcases many of Hilton Head Island’s fresh local ingredients. In fact, all of their seafood and meet dishes are prepared fresh daily. The pro shop at Palmetto Hall is one of the best stocked in the area for men’s and women’s golf apparel and they carry several unique designers. They are more than willing to accommodate whatever you’re looking for, so if you don’t see what you want, just ask and they’ll help you find it.Last Word: The Cupp Course is one of the most exciting layouts on the Island as it winds its way through dense oak and pine forests and large Lowcountry marshes. From an aerial view, the layout is spectacular with its geometry all over the course. From a playing perspective, it can be as tough or as gentle as you want it, just pick the right set of tees. With narrow fairways and natural impediments at both ends of the fairway, each hole offers a new start, regardless of how you did on the previous hole.

The course itself was fine but the service and hospitality was completely disappointing and outright RUDE. There was a very deep hole that was completely covered by grass and my mother’s foot went right in and she fell. We let the pro shop know to make sure that they put spray paint around it. However, when we went to tell them they didn’t apologize for it nor did they thank us for giving them a heads up. Palmetto Hall Plantation (Robert Cupp course), rated 3-1/2 stars: Some of Robert Cupps original sharp lines, angles and geometric symmetry have mellowed with time, but this computer-aided design golf course, is still a bit different than the norm. The pyramid shaped mounding, and geometric bunkering and water-hazards are special, as is the good mix of holes with water and those without.

We booked a tee time at the Arthur Hills course on the recommendation of a guy we met in a local golf store. We were already playing the three Palmetto Dunes courses during the week and had a spare day available to play a new course. This was his firm favorite of the moderately priced (non-Sea Pines) options in the area.In all honesty, we felt just a little disappointed after the round. Although the course was very pleasant, it wasnt spectacular in any way, with the possible exception of the 18th hole which is a gem to look at and a great test of golf. The range facilities were ok, nothing special and frankly, the service provided to us by the staff was a notch or two down from the RTJ course we played at Palmetto Dunes the day before. The course was also a notch down but to be fair, so was the greens fee ($50 cheaper to be precise). The course is absolutely fine and well priced compared with those of a similar standard elsewhere on the Island i.e. better than say Shipyard, not as good as Palmetto Dunes or Sea Pines. If I were asked the same question we asked, I would probably point someone towards Olde South rather than here. The huge let down for us on the day was the speed of play. The foursome in front of us took more than 5 hours to complete their round and refused to invite us through on the several occasions we caught them on the tee box. The marshal told us he had warned them the first time he came around but this didnt make any difference and it was another 9 holes before he returned again, this time just for a wave as he drove by. It really is frustrating when a facility does not take the initiative to care for the majority of their guests when a group is clearly holding everyone up.
