We have used Max several times over the years to tune-up and repair our familys bikes. He has always done a great job in doing the necessary fixes. He is prompt, responsive to texts, and very reasonably priced. The bonus is he will come to your house to service the bikes! You dont have to load them in the car to get them to a bike store. We highly recommend Max and his team.

I made the mistake and went by Google reviews which seemed all very stellar. However, my case was less pleasant.1) i was asked to pick up my bike at 7pm. As i got there, Max wasnt finished with the tune up and run into a problem with my rear derailleur (SRAM red etap for those who care). Since he was not able to fix the bike in a reasonable amount of waiting time he asked me to come back another day. That was the first bummer....2) It appeared that the rear derailleur was defective and he suggested me to replace it. For a piece that currently retails for around 600 dollar, clearly something i would get a second opinion on. When I went to another bike store nearby they could immediately spot that my rear dey hanger was totally skewed and they suggested that this might fix the problem. It appears that even with a proper hanger the derailleur seems still defective. However, the new hanger certainly improved the performance (just cant get into the smallest cog). Im surprised that Max didnt spot that when i clearly asked him on the first day i was meant to pick up the bike. I told him that it looks really skewed..... anyhow...3) more annoyingly, as i went for a test ride the next day i had the feeling that the steering seems a bit lose. It appears it was totally loose. The other bike shop tightened it up. A small thing but shouldnt happen after a tune up that i pay almost 300 dollar for (including a new Shimano Ultegra chain which retails for about 50 bucks).4) i asked to have my brake rotors checked as my break pads touch it when I sprint out of the saddle. It seemed at first fine when i picked up my bike but during my next days longer test ride i had awful break pad touching. Even worse than when i brought initially my bike to him.5) when i brought the bike to Max my cracks were a little whacky (they moved although the screw was fully tightened. I feared that i cooked my bottom bracket (i run Kogal and had them already replaced 3times....every year basically). I told him that if they are defect again we should just go with normal steel bottom brackets. When i picked up the bike he managed to get the cranks back on my bike without changing the bottom bracket and they seemed tight. Next day when I went for a longer ride they become totally lose again. Just as they were when i brought my bike to him. His suggestion was to replace the bottom bracket. However, the culprit is not the bottom bracket but the adjustment ring to fit it to my crank. As the other bike shop correctly figured out, that ring was totally run down. Again, this is something I would expect a bike mechanic to figure out when he takes the bike apart during a mayor tune up in first place. Especially, when he knew about the problem.All in all, this was probably the worst experience i ever had during my cycling career and Ive been riding high end bikes since Im 15y old and when i got my first sponsored bike (so casually 25y by now). Hence, i have had a few bike tune ups in the past.Maybe, this is a good shop if you have an all day bike and your repairs dont require profound knowledge but if you have a high end bike i would be careful.

I love my road bike that I have been riding it for over 35 years. All those miles had started to show. I asked Max and his team for help. Maxs team made my bike look and ride like new again. I am very happy with the results.

Max is truly full service! He recently helped me with a build of a new bike that was ordered online and also renovated an older bike that now rivals the new bike! Max also sold my old bike as well as a set of wheels and some old components. His service fee was more than fair and saved me all of the trouble. He has access to great parts (components, pedals, bike cases, etc.) for the same prices or in some cases better than youll find online. He is reliable, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I called Max to do a spring tune up my road bike five years ago and have been using him ever since. You cant beat the convenience -- he is prompt about setting up an appointment and comes right to my house -- which is perfect given my schedule. He is 100% reliable.Max is also a great source of cycling information. He ordered some winter bike gear for me that was fantastic and recommended bibs and shoes that have worked out really well. The best thing Max has done was to build up a bike for me using a beautiful carbon frame that a client of his was selling. I had told him I was interested in upgrading my ride, and he kept an eye out for me. Max is an extremely knowledgeable and passionate man, he loves what he does and it clearly shows. His attention to detail is outstanding. He took the time out of his day to help me to learn how to repair a flat tire (something I had been terrified to do forever!) Max recently serviced 4 bikes for me and my wife -- and the work was excellent. He was thorough, disassembling everything down to the headset and bottom bracket, a complete overhaul. The work was done quickly (during the busy season), unlike many shops that cant get to it for a week or more, and professionally. On top of it, I saw Max riding on the road a week later, and he noticed that I needed a reach adjustment on my shifters -- and offered to do it while I wait this week. His attention to detail is fantastic.

Ive been in and out of bike shops for years and never really found a shop that made me feel that my needs came first. I have had Max servicing my bike for the last 5 years. The first time I had met Max I had consulted with a local bike shop that informed me that I had to replace several components and I would need to drop the bike off for 4 days...over the weekend. Yellow Jersey Cycle is the opposite of your typical local bike store. Nestled off a less than busy verdant road in Greenwich, when you walk into YJC, it seems like you are entering a master workshop, with precise instruments sparsely holding their place versus endless rows of rubber, carbon, and aluminum alloy inventory. I called Max on the phone after several failed attempts to find a suitable replacement wheel from other local Fairfield stores. Max recommended a set of wheels that no one else even carries in stock, and after my own research I purchased the wheel set, and couldnt be more satisfied with the decision. Max races also, and when you talk to him and meet him in person, you can tell he knows what he is talking about, He is one of the few people that has probably spent as many thousands of miles on the saddle with all the serious components as you have, and knows how to fine tune it all. Ive had multiple excellent experiences working with Max at Yellow Jersey and I highly recommend his shop for high quality bikes, gear and service (and he may even throw in some free advice on how to ride fast(er). Not only did Max fit and build a top-notch bike for me (Boardman SLR frame, HED wheels, Ultegra Di2...), in the price range I was targeting, but he also sold off components from my old bike and handled a warranty claim for a damaged frame which he used to build me a back-up bike. Hes super-responsive, knowledgeable, efficient and overall a pleasure to work with.

Max took me from a Huffy - Santa Fe 12 speed circa 1985 to a 2012 Variado Focus blanco beauty. Its my second year riding as an intermediate cyclist.
