Did fine with the oil change but quoted me for a $800 brake job for brakes, rotars, and brake fluid flush saying I was at 12% and when I checked it there was more than 50% left on the brakes. So Ill never be going there again since all trust has been broken.

I trust this place. Customer service was great, and they drove me back to work. I trust their mechanic, Bo. Only con is the fact my entire issue wasn’t diagnosed with my first visit. But they figured it out, free of charge. They’re a little more expensive than my liking, but what place isn’t.

I had my car towed to Star auto. The guts of the gear shifter fell apart and the power steering was whining until the car was warmed up! Both repaired and work perfectly! I recently took the Tundra in for general servicing. I actually got 3 quotes, one which included Toyota. Toyota was most competitive to Star but still $300 more expensive. The service writer was extremely rude and sat on his computer the entire time I was talking to him. He got irritated when I asked him simple questions about my transmission service. After dropping the car off I get a call saying they refuse to work on it and they Wouldnt even diagnose a simple problem that I ended up fixing my self with a relay. Also there prices are way out of line these guys dont stand by there work at all. The servise writer told me he wouldnt work on my car because ita gone be the type of car it didnt have that problem when i brought it there. I would never recommend these guys.

Amazing!! We have spent 1000s at cheaper shops and had to have that work redone. We bought a used car, that had to have some repairs done, and they were awsome! You pay for what you get! They provide top quality work!

They fixed my car on the spur of the moment and the people there are the kindest and most considerate.

I love Star, they are always honest and forthcoming with their information. Will take the time to explain to me if I dont quite understand. Have been to a few places in Grants Pass and have chosen to stay with them for auto repair.

My mom brought her car in for a quote on a general tune up and for fixing a few minor body issues with the car. They charged her 200$ for the time the car was in the shop without doing anything to it. The communication was not clear and we were out that money with nothing fixed on the car. They could have at least offered the 200$ towards credit on fixing what needed to be fixed? Very upset with this and most likely won’t be returning.

Is very difficult finding a quality repair shop in Grants Pass. There are a lot of them. I drove by Star, hundreds of times due to its location on F St. thinking just another repair shop. It is not. A close friend recommended Star and I was not disappointed. We have to be realistic, all the shops charge the same prices or close to it. What we really want, is that our car is fixed to our satisfaction. Which is no small thing. My car is very important to me, and Star repaired it with a devotion to detail. They actually care about your car, and you as a customer. Even after its repaired I get friendly reminders. Star is that kind of place.. Star goes beyond normal expectations. Give it a try.

Brought my car in for a timing belt change. My previous mechanic shop installed a vital piece incorrectly causing major issue to have a new timing belt changed. Dave at Star was very patient and tried all he could to fix what could’ve been a very expensive situation for me or of having to salvage my car. I was very grateful for trying various options to get it running again. On another leaking situation they got me in ASAP fixed my car and had it back to me the same day even though I wasn’t in a rush to get it back. I had some oil burning after causing smoking but they called and scheduled me right away to re-clean it again. Their customer service is sincere glad I have them as my new mechanics! Crooks! They buy faulty parts and do not guarantee or warranty their jobs. They will break parts and charge you to fix them. They will charge you to fix parts that they never fix and their front desk employees are more than rude. A TERRIBLE SHOP that buys cheap parts that break after only months. Consistent problems! I will be filing a complaint with the bbb! Don’t bring your car here!! If you need a good shop for import vehicles go to K and C! Please save yourself the trouble and don’t go to STAR!!!

Absolutely amazing customer service! We had trouble on our car trip and pulled in. Ed helped us figure out what was wrong (which turned out to be very minor). He seemed to genuinely care about helping us out, and even gave us his card so we could update him when we got to our destination safely. He helped us plan our route and they had no problem with our kids playing inside for an hour. 110% Satisfied and definitely recommend.

I always get fair pricing and great service from STAR. They recently worked on a second vehicle for me. The mechanics there will give it to you straight about the services needed. I am on a budget and they helped me prioritize my repairs also considering safety. Theu provide courtesy ride service as well as loaner vehicles when available.

Ive taken my vehicles to Star several times and Im pleased with their service. But they need more than one loaner car! Im a senior citizen and my car is in the shop and I have to walk around on foot and cant go home or do anything without a car!! Thanks alot, Star!

Excellent service!

These place was the absolute worse. I went to have my car fixed because it was making some weird sounds. It ended up being a head gasket and failed to inform me that the rod going out as well. They stated that they had fixed the head gasket and when I went to pick up my car one of the young mechanics pulled me aside and told me that my rod was going out. I tried to speak to the owner about what was happening. He is a sexist. He would not look in my eye or even acknowledge I was present. He only wanted to speak to my bf about God and Guns. I had to constantly redirect him to discuss what I had paid $4000 for. I took my car to Rapley Motor Sports. He informed me that there was scrap metal in my oil pan and that they did not change my head gaskets.

Paul was very nice, & on the way home I found a noisey air leak in my drivers door ...called him back & he gave me a nice referal for body work as the door must have gotten tweaked ..The price for the repair was wonderfully reasonable

I gave these guys a shot to work on our truck door last week. The internal door mechanism fell apart on our truck so the door ended up locked closed with no way to open it. We took it to this shop and got what sounded like a fair price. So we left the truck to be repaired. A half hour later we get a call from them that the price was going to now be way different because they were going to have to tear apart the inside of the truck to get into the door. I could not believe it. One, they diddnt realize they could simply pull the rubber seal between the door and window and use a pick to simply unlock the door to get in the vehicle. Being an auto body shop and not knowing that was a scary thought. Next they wanted to raise their price. So needless to say we immediately went to pick up our service truck and took it to another shop. Not only did the other Automotive Repair shop fix it for a little less than Star Automotive first quote, but they knew what they were doing and fixed our truck and had us back on the road within a couple hours. I would not trust this shop and will never bring my vehicle or recommend them to anyone. Buyer beware.The original quote we received was in person with our truck at their shop. The truck was available to be inspected properly with the issue it had before we were given the original quote.

My poor Mini Cooper died for the first time since I bought her. I was terrified it would cost a lot and take a while to fix, but less than $500 later the very same day she was good as new. Hopefully I won’t need more repairs any time soon, but if I do I know where I’m going.

Taking my car to Star Automotive is always a positive experience. The staff are knowledgeable, efficient and friendly, and prices are very reasonable. Shuttle service back to my house is very helpful as well.

Star is really terrific. My 8yo minivan has 221,000+ miles on it, and Star has been instrumental in keeping it running - and running well. I would not entrust the reliability of my van and the safety of my kids to anyone else. They keep the price down, pick me up and drop me off or give me a (free) loaner, and they work fast!

The only place I take my truck. They always take such good care of me and dont ever add unnecessary repairs to jack my bill up. Getting your vehicle is never cheap and if it is, they probably are very good. They are far, honest, and just real people. Cant recommend them enough!

Sexist, unprofessional, dishonest.I have taken my truck here several times. No real issues. The first time my girlfriend brings her car in they overcharged her from a quoted price, damaged her vehicle, and lied to her. Dave would not speak with her about it and was extremely disrespectful. I will never use this place again.

I had my RV towed to this shop as it broke down traveling from the California coast to Grants Pass when the radiator blew out in the middle of nowhere on a Sunday. I Googled reviews as I live out of state and took a chance hoping that they were reputable, honest and good service. Well I am pleased to report that this shop has all of those and more.Ed, Dave, Travis and the rest of the team at Star Automotive were great! They quickly diagnosed the problem, a blown radiator hose, fixed it and had me back on the road the same day. I decided to give STAR a try for a pretty major repair job on our Dodge Caravan (as in, over $1000 worth) based mostly on an earlier Google review in which someone mentioned how friendly the people at STAR are. They werent kidding! From my first phone contact, all the way through the job, everyone was very friendly, professional, and thorough. The job seems to have been done satisfactorily. The price was a bit higher than what another local shop estimated, but you cant beat the quality service from STAR. Definitely recommend! :)

Star Automotive repeatedly provides prompt, courteous, accurate and economical repair service. I would recommend them to anyone that I know. They have worked on my 2002 GMC Yukon and on my 1997 Mercedes E320. I have a friend that has had them work on his Ford truck and his Volvo X90. The mechanics and service providers at Star are very capable Im working on domestic and foreign automobiles and trucks.

These guys are GREAT! My check-engine light came on, along with other scary warning signs, as I was driving back to Sacramento in the heavy traffic after the eclipse. Two other shops turned me away, saying they were too busy, or about to close. STAR was actually closed already when I got there, but Jim was still there locking up, and he recognized my emergency (the hotels were all full, so Id have been sleeping in my car for a couple of days!). He and Ed got to work checking out my car, topping off my fluids, running the computer diagnostics, and even took it for a test drive to make sure everything felt and sounded safe and ship-shape, and to ensure that the moment I pulled away the problem did just come back. I tried to leave a tip to thank them and to pay them for their overtime, but Jim said hes had many blessings in his life, and he was glad hed had the chance to help me. I nearly burst into tears! I finished the long drive home through that crazy, engine-stressing, stop-and-go traffic, and had no further issues for the remainder of the 16-hour marathon drive. I will be forever grateful to have found an establishment of such integrity, dedication to excellence, and kindness. Now THATs how to run a business! Thanks, you guys!

They left my hood ajar, were driving around in low gear and diagnosed a problem but didnt fix it. Lets just say I would not recommend this shop to anyone and I will not be giving them my business again. 2 stars because they did complete the work in a timely manner and did not price gouge.

When I went in I said I was looking for a repair shop that would threat me honestly and not take advantage me because of what I didnt know. I got what I asked for and now I wouldnt go anywhere else. Thanks guys for fixing my car and make it possible to get home, i know you guys were busy, only thing its that you guys told me my car left front light was busted, which I replace and still the same, call my mechanic, we check it out together just to find non of the brake lights, hazard or directional light didnt work either and they were working before, so not sure if you guys accidentally unplug something but trying to figure it out, hope it dont cost me more! Just hope you guys be extra careful in the future! Thanks!
