I wanted to try the drink and soft serve so to get best of both worlds, I got the float. But it wasn’t that easy because so many choices. For soft serve, you can get matcha, hojicha (roasted matcha), vanilla or mix. The mix is pre-made so you could only get vanilla/matcha or hojicha/coconut mix.I got the matcha latte float, the latte adds whole milk. For the soft serve I was interested in hojicha but asked for her recommendation and she suggested matcha on matcha. So I got matcha soft serve with matcha latte.I was very surprised that it was very tasty. You can’t adjust the sweet level on the float but it turned out perfect. I tasted the matcha and the right amount of creaminess from the milk. I would only suggest to ask for less ice. It was so good that I took several big gulps and left with 3/4 cup of ice. They charge an extra $0.50 if paying with credit card under $15. Who does that anymore!?!
Soft serves are decent. They lack a little bit of the softness and more matcha. The frappes also have a different taste to it, like artificial sugar and not blended well. I guess the Garden Grove and Fountain Valley areas are quite different in tastes. Too bad that the fountain valleys location is officially closed now
It was my very first visit to get a tasty coffee. The girl who took my order was very kind. But she was the only person working there, so she didnt work on my order right away to get another order from a lady behind me. And the lady, I guess she was her first time also, and asked a lot of questions and talking... talking... talking.... so it ended up me waiting for 10 minutes to get my latte. Also, they charge 50 cents for a card payment under $15. Latte wasnt bad, though.
Pro: Super friendly staff offered samples and answered our questionsCons: Expensive!!! This was $7.56!Cant adjust the sweetness as the tea was already made (meaning tea is not even fresh)Add ice in the float? It was hard to eat ice cream as it was sticking to the ice too much. They should offer more hot drinks as it gets colder and colder. Will I ever go back? 🤔 I dont think so.
Ordered their Matcha Shaved Ice with soft serve ice cream, mochi balls, and red bean. Everything tasted good except for the “Shaved Ice”. Which is what we mainly wanted and ordered. The ice was blended (heard blender behind the door) ice with matcha flavoring poured into it. We have been to other locations and ordered the same item to compare. Extremely disappointed, we advised the employee that it was not shaved ice, but was told that is how shaved ice is.
Lovely service. The matcha ice cream, however, was too sweet and a bit watery compared to other Cafe Maiko locations Ive tried.
Love matcha cafe maiko. They have such a good variety of treats between ice cream, parfait, and drinks. They also have a boba shop called Mycha in the same location so you can get non-matcha drinks as well.Matcha ice cream had a deep, rich matcha flavor. Nice and earthy and just bitter enough. Hardcore fans will appreciate. And the adding a gold leaf makes it so pretty (it doesn’t have a taste)
I ordered matcha milk tea and I can barely taste matcha. And on top of that, because of ice filled half way of the cup that I can say, no matcha flavor in there, just taste like milk.
The minute we walked in, our presence was definitely acknowledged. They were very attentive and quick to serve. I also noticed that they made the drinks on a first come first serve basis. They don’t care if your order 1 or 10. I tried the soft serve mixed of vanilla and matcha. I love the matcha and hated the vanilla. Had I had known what a difference it made, I would have gone all matcha. They are located in korea town of GG, and right next to a coffee shop, so people do hang out and smoke outside. The interior is very cute and Instagramable.
Delish!! Delish!! Delish!! 😛
The staff is very friendly and explains menu thoroughly. The matcha was amazing! Definitely will be back.
We usually hit Ding Tea around the corner so the gf wanted ice cream and this place popped up. The interior was clean which was the first thing that caught my eye.We ordered one of their parfait style match ice cream, a waffle cone with vanilla and matcha, and a honey milk tea. I have to say... Ive had matcha ice cream in Japan and I was super impressed with this. Its hard to put the taste in words except that it was the correct levels of sweet and creamy plus the tea was amazing. There was so much ice cream and the wafffle cone did not disappoint. I am definitely coming back here.Overall it was a fun experience if youre looking for desert and want something other than the traditional ice cream or yogurt places around the area.
Matcha ice cream is on point. Only one that tops it is Midori Matcha but this one is pretty damn close. Plus they have more variety.
Amazing matcha vanilla shake ice! The strong matcha flavor perfectly compliments the vanilla ice cream. Mochi balls are so cute and chewy. The red bean is not too sweet and just taste so yummy with the shave ice. Portion wise its enough for two people to share. I also ordered the iced matcha latte and its soo good. True matcha flavor! Only bad thing is they dont turn on the ac though and its a super small location - tables are always full 😭
Really chic and cute matcha cafe that serves tea and soft serve. The matcha is good, but bitter. I prefer more sweet matcha, but its absolutely perfect for people who prefer the natural bitter taste that comes with it. They also serve nonmatcha items as well. Bathroom is also customer only with a key so you have to ask the cashier for it if you have to use it. The girl who was working was sweet and worked pretty quickly and is knowledgeable about the menu items.
I love this place- my go-to dessert is macha milk tea!
Love the soft-serve Matcha ice cream! Perfect for a sweet craving.
Love the matcha soft serve ice cream.
Got a chance to visit Matcha Cafe Maiko for the first time yesterday, Rachel was very helpful in telling me what was good on the menu. I got the Maiko Special. That was very tasty with a surprise red bean and Matcha Cake at the bottom. I also got the Brown Sugar Boba drink and that was super creamy and delicious! Will definitely be going back and trying more next time!
This was my first time going to the Garden Grove Location, but its a beautiful place, I went here after the Strawberry Festival with my kids. Tried the shaved ice and one of the drinks. It took a while because they had a lot of people, but it was delicious.
Finally found a place to satisfy my hojicha cravings! Easy parking, friendly staff, and extensive menu.My faves were the hojicha float that includes soft serve and the passionfruit Yakult! The drinks run on the sweeter side FYI in case you need to wanna request a lower sugar %Takeout only at this time! Appreciated the hand sanitizer available.
This location has a great set of people, they are wonderful and so nice. My drink was delicious!
Love their matcha soft serve. I usually get a float as the iced matcha makes it refreshing afterwards.
Good!! 🧁🍦😋
Small little ice cream shop work for both great fruit infusion drinks person or need a fix on hot latte on a raining day
Excellent customer service and delicious matcha.
Decent matcha soft serve, but not amazing. If youre looking for a soft, creamy texture, this isnt it. The soft serve is definitely on the icy side and melts quickly. But I do think the flavor of matcha is quite strong. The hojicha is even better! I just love the roasted tea taste. The cone is okay, but it is a little too crumbly. Ive heard mixed reviews about the drinks, but have not had the chance to try them yet.
I got the Maiko Special (parfait) with a matcha/hojicha swirl soft serve on top, it was incredible! It had a layer of jelly, then corn flakes, then azuki (sweet red bean), then matcha chiffon (sponge) cake, then the soft serve on top with a chestnut and two dango (mochi balls). I loved the roasty flavor of the hojicha soft serve paired with the strong matcha flavor, and the various textures were wonderful! Each layer was a new pleasant surprise. Will definitely go again if Im back in the area!
For matcha lovers like me its paradise.
Hi Tracy Q Nguyen.First of all, I apologize if the comment I left on Yelp upset you, especially when you are pregnant. I didn’t mean for you to take it that way, and have to post my name and also screenshot my comment on YELP here on your fb instead of replying directly to my yelp review, or at least unblock me so I can read what you wrote about me.And I didn’t even know any of this until my friend showed me what you wrote about me on your personal fb.I personally don’t know you and have nothing against you. When a mutual friend posted about the Matcha opening in Garden Grove, I myself love Matcha, so I followed and added you as a friend so I can come and support your business if I’m in OC. That was the only reason I added you on fb, nothing besides supporting small businesses and women who can follow their dream.Fast forward to the day I visited your store, I was in OC, my husband and I took our newborn out for the first time, I was very hot as I remember, so we decided for me to order first, and my husband will take our newborn ( 2 months old) in after he parked so we can have a day out. I came inside, you weren’t happy about your employee and you said to the girl with a very loud voice “ lần sau con ko biết thi hỏi, đừng có làm vậy “ I didn’t know what it was about, but I was kinda thrown off by the way you treated your employee.Next I ordered, and it wasn’t me who took forever, it was your employee. She didn’t know how to answer my question. I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant and also my newborn had eczema and so I’m on a strict diet. I asked her about all the ingredients, and she couldn’t even tell me, and I was still patiently waiting for her to inform me of all the new items you had on your menu. ( And also I paid .50cents for my cheese foam, there was a video, you should of watch it again)After I ordered, you told the girl “ nói khách là hết .... (Something I ordered, I couldn’t remember..) and you said it loud enough for me to hear. That was very unprofessional if you are the owner (as you claimed yourself). You could have nicely told me because there was only one other customer in the store. Instead, you raised your voice to tell your worker to tell me, when I was in front of your face. After I was done, my mind was like no way you are the owner. Owners don’t treat customers like this, and I don’t think I was mean to you in the store at all, that’s why I wrote in my yelp review that I didn’t know if you were even the owner. In my yelp review I said I will be back even with my unpleasant experience, because it was a grand opening and so sometimes things aren’t perfect. But after I read what you falsely wrote about me, I will update my review and I won’t be coming back, because how can you say I’m not a human being but on another hand, you write lies about me on your personal fb acct and also laugh at your friends comments mocking my English. I’m not perfect, and I might be critical when come to food, but you took this another step further by attacking me and spreading lies. Please don’t write them a bad review other wise the owner will post and released your info on her personal fb and attacking now.
The green tea drinks taste good. I will have to ask for less sugar next time.
Good price and very strong matcha drinks!
Yummy matcha ice cream and drinks
Matcha ice cream was very good
Staff is friendly and great promotion going on. Just extremely warm in the store, no A/C.
Honestly a place to visit one time... not what I expected..
Love the matcha special

Highly recommend the hojicha ice latte float & matcha float! (They’re the number 32 & 26. I forgot what the difference was with 26 and 35.With the floats, you get to try both the soft serve and the latte at once! Ask for less ice ;)Mochi were good combination too, the red beans a bit too sweat for me.Or order the matcha and hojicha flavors by themselves on a cone! (Very crispy, not soggy!) It’s sooo delicious!!Ps. If you like a really strong bitter matcha, try the “Mecha” just few blocks away! This place has its own taste though!Service:The cashier girl was so nice, she knew I was new here and gave quick small recommendations! Thank you!Tables:There’s a small wooden bench and another small table with three chairs outside. Also one or two tables inside.Payment:The girl was also very nice to advise us to add an ‘add-on’ because we were few cents away from $15. And if you’re paying with card for under that amount, they charge you extra 50cents! :)
I love their ice cream and drinks, my favorite, matcha cone!
