David and team (my awesome instructor is Ashley) do a fantastic job of making something that can seem overwhelming at first an achievement in seemingly no time. People who think they have two left feet or think you cant possibly dance will leave the first lesson doing basic steps of their first dance and will be hooked!

I was searching for a place nearby so I could learn how to dance salsa and bachata. Needless to say I end up staying and I learn smooth dance and other Latin dances that I really enjoy. I was able to expand my joy in dancing! This is a great place if you are looking to learn bc they are a wonderful stuff and very friendly!

We came to Fred Astaire for wedding dance lessons to a simple song. Neither one of us had any ballroom dance experience - the groom only moshed during concerts and the bride had mastered the Macarena and Cha Cha slide and danced the Sugar Plum Fairy back in Kindergarten. We showed up and within our first lesson we had a basic fox trot and swing down. While working with David for private lessons and the rest of the crew for some occasional group classes, we were able to nail our first dance that incorporated tons of turns, spins, and even a dip at the end! We had all our guests on their feet at the end! Learning the moves was frustrating at times, but with David’s persistence and convincing us to even practice at home - we came a long way! The staff is super flexible and definitely professionals in the art. The studio is inviting and clean and they have the friendliest patrons! They teach us not only moves for our dance but how to carry those dances for other songs. On our wedding day we were able to dance along at the reception - the groom showed off how to lead and made the night of his sisters, aunts and close family friends by being able to turn them with them having no prior dance experience! We will definitely be back to learn some other dances!

You will always have fun taking dance lessons with friendly and professional teachers. The students will make you feel welcome too. You will feel reinvigorated and refreshed after every lesson and practice.The owner has created an amiable environment. My fiance and I received swing dance and ballroom dance lessons for our wedding here and absolutely loved the experience! David was amazing and got us on the fast-track to learn in 5 weeks. Had a blast! Highly recommended

David (the owner) is hilarious, patient, and really makes learning to dance fun. Cant recommend him or the studio enough.

The studio is on the end of the building with a lot of windows and natural light. There is a large and separate smaller dance space with reception area. Large selection of dance shoes for sale. Impressively talented and extremely patient instructors. Plenty of parking and easy access from route 85 near 270!

My fiancée convinced me to take dance lessons here. I was terrified and I had zero experience or confidence dancing. One lesson (and a few margaritas) later, I was hooked. Everyone here is incredibly professional and talented. Not only can they teach someone like me with absolutely no clue, they also have advanced programs for experienced dancers. Private lessons, group classes, couples classes, there have even been online classes during the pandemic. I have spent time with each of the employees here as well as the owner and I can say you won’t meet a more wonderful group of people. 10/10 would recommend!!!!

My husband and I have been taking dance lessons for months now with Francesca. She is so patient, fun, and kind. We really enjoy going in and learning a little more each time!

As a former professional from way back in the day, I am super happy to have found this studio so I could get back into dance again. The instructors are all patient and kind, incredibly fun to be around and, most importantly, honestly interested in each student reaching their own maximum potential and goals, not someone elses idea of what those goals should be. That is such a refreshing and appreciated perspective. If youve ever wanted to learn to dance and just dont know if its for you, just try it.

Fred Astaires public events are amazing. Each of the four instructors bring their own personal charm to the group lessons, and are very helpful to all dancers in attendance. Such a fun place to learn to dance. The staff is incredible. The options for practicing are numerous. The atmosphere is contagious fun.

I have danced and studied at half a dozen studios in the metropolitan DC area, but I am now calling Fred Astaire Frederick home because even though it’s a brand new studio with a beautiful dance floor, the teaching staff is very experienced (combining decades of teaching ballroom). Best of all, the tuition here is very reasonable.

If you havent learned to dance from Fred Astaire Frederick, you are missing out on life! Salsa, bachata, merengue, waltz, tango, foxtrot, west coast swing, hustle, etc...you name it, you can learn it!Not only do they teach you whatever it is you want to learn, but they also teach you how to use it out in the world (weddings, clubs, etc) as well as have almost nightly parties which gives everyone a place to show off their new moves!

What a lovely place---and it is so much fun. Instructors are top notch, Tuesday night out is not only instructive but it is fun to add dinner out with dancing.
