I dont even know where to start!My sister-in-law had her wedding dress designed and made by Elaine and recommended her to me when I couldnt find my perfect outfit for my own big day. I honestly cant shout loudly enough about how great Elaine is.I walked into her shop with some fabric and a rough idea of a jumpsuit I wanted, and when I tell you I felt like I knew this woman my entire life, I mean it. I was greeted by the most friendly, charismatic and talented dressmaker! (Plus an adorable little furry friend, Bonnie)In just a two weeks Elaine made me a toile (a test) of the jumpsuit, made sure everything was perfect before going on to do the final outfit in my chosen fabric and it is honestly the most flattering item Ive ever tried on (I had to buy this too). The whole process was zero stress and I knew I was in excellent hands.Her communication and precision was impeccable: She dropped by my house to make sure I was happy with the lining she had chosen and just everything about Elaines process is so hands on, accommodating and friendly. She just really wants you to be happy!I wasnt the slightest bit worried or nervous when I arrived back at her shop just a few weeks later to try on the finished jumpsuit. It fit perfectly and we were both just as excited that the vision had come to life. I dont know what I would have done without her!I know this isnt my last purchase from Elaine and I cant wait to get new garments made by her. Her talent and love for the craft really speaks for itself, but honestly shes just great all round! She did everything possible to make me happy, comfortable and covid safe.If youre umming and ahing about where to get your wedding dress, jumpsuit or just the most flattering day to day clothing look no further. Elaine is an incredible designer, seamstress and awesome woman!I was so excited to show Elaine our wedding photos and share how everyone at the wedding was just as in love with the jumpsuit as we were. I honestly wouldnt change anything about the process or the outfit. She made the whole thing seamless and enjoyable (plus she saved my husband a headache or two)!Thank you Elaine!

I have been aware of Elaine and her beautiful, timeless clothes for a number of years but never had the right occasion to wear them to. When my daughter told me she was getting married I knew exactly where I would get my dress from! Elaine was so helpful and very patient with me helping me try out different dresses etc and her advice was invaluable. She was willing to adjust this or adjust that to ensure a better fit but in the end all that was required was a button adjustment, which she did there and then! I also ended up buying one of her jumpsuits which fit like a dream and just know that this will be a ‘go to’ outfit for many different outings and occasions. I cannot recommend Elaine Bernstein enough, her dresses and jumpsuits are not only exquisite but the service she gave to me was above and beyond expectations. Thank you Elaine.

Earlier today I stumbled across this gem of a clothing shop on Cross Street. Elaine Bernstein offers beautiful dresses in timeless styles and a range of fabrics and colours, which you can try on off the rack and then order made with alterations to fit your shape perfectly. I walked away with one beautiful yet versatile dress (cute yet comfortable! machine washable! with pockets! such joy) and Ive ordered three more, in a range of formality. Elaine herself is an absolute delight, and took time and care in helping me choose dresses that worked for me. Very recommended.

Elaine Bernstein is a fabulous designer of sophisticated vintage inspired dresses that she gets made in London and sells in her little Islington shop and online. Since she arrived in Cross Street N1 after one of the lockdowns, Ive bought a jumpsuit and five dresses. Her clothes look very good on the mannequins but wonderful on the wearers so its really worth going in to try them on. Id not have experimented with a jumpsuit without her persuasion and am delighted I did because (although I say this myself) it looks great on me (actually my husband and friends say this too). Some of the dresses Ive bought off the rack, and others shes had made for me with slight adjustments to achieve a really good fit. They can look more or less formal, depending on the fabric theyre made up with. They are very reasonably priced for what they are, and well made. Elaine is lovely and makes visiting her shop a real pleasure. And in case youre wondering, I didnt know Elaine before I found her shop so this review is completely unbiased.

I bought my jumpsuit by Elaine Bernstein at her recent pop-up in Islington. I actually never thought that I would wear a jumpsuit, just not my thing - but when I saw Elaines styles and cut, I just fell in love! It suits me perfectly and sits so well on the body, I love it! That was my New Year outfit and I cannot wait to wear it on a day out when life is back to normal!

I bought a beautiful dress - long and sleeveless - to wear at my sons wedding in September. The whole process was a dream, from my friend suggesting Elaine, visiting, choosing and fitting, and then best of all, wearing on the big day. Elaine was so helpful through chatting about accessories, understanding my temperature needs (!) and generally making it a fretfree time.I went back for a couple of little Christmas presents and bought one of her FABULOUS black jumpsuits - i wore it for New Years Eve and know its going to be my go-to, wow, comfortable outfit. I now dont have the stressy search through department stores when i need something particular - I can go to Elaine! Thank you ..your clothes are a joy to wear.
