One of the best bike shops anywhere. Everyone in the store is expert courteous and knowledgeable. They are ready to share their knowledge with you for as long as you need. These guys wrote the book on “knowing what you’re talking about“. They try to accommodate everybody, the walkins, the emergency bike mechanical needs, as well as scheduling appointments for more detailed work. I strongly recommend this shop.

I was in town to do Ride the Rockies and stopped in to get some new gloves. James was friendly and helpful and assisted me to get a great new pair of gloves which I wore during the ride as well as very cool new bells to put on our bikes. The next day, at the end of the first day of the ride, I sliced my tire. I brought my bike into the shop an hour from closing time. As I came in through the back, into the shop, Emma greeted me and asked how she could help. In 30 minutes she had put a new tire on the bike and had me on my way. Super friendly staff and in particular a marked lack of typical bike mechanic bad attitude. An awesome place - highly recommended!

I really appreciate any business that “knows its craft”.These folks are great not only at repairing and knowing the “bike craft”, they’re great at the “craft of retail!”From the minute you walk in, someone quickly greats you and is eager to help you find what you need. Super smart, professional and courteous.A special shout out to Darian in the shop! She literally hand-crafted and re-engineered a derailleur hanger on my Ritchey frame in the middle of the RTR21 ride. She was able to replace the derailleur and cassette which also got destroyed all in two hours. So excited to get back on the ride now!

I highly recommend this location for anything related to mountain bikingDuring the process of purchasing my Stumpumper Comp about a month ago I had the pleasure of meeting and working with many of the employees at MBS. Hopefully I the names correct... Mike, John, and James out front who worked with me to purchase, advise and set up, and Ken and Emma out back who sorted out shipping my Troll and changing the Stumpjumper to tubeless.I can say without hesitation that every person on the team was super knowledgeable, very helpful, and always friendly.In many bike shops theres often a few employees with an attitude towards newbies or simple questions that many of us ask. While on vacation with friends in Durango, we stopped by the shop just to “kick tires”. The service went above and beyond for me during a recent visit to Durango. With only two days to ride during my visit I had the rear brake on my bike quit working. The guys at the bike shop were able to squeeze my bike in for the repair. The price was reasonable, they did great work. Thanks for getting me back out on the trail, guys.

Though not every visit was the best, but once the staff and ownership knows, they will do their best to understand customer concerns.I had one unpleasant experience in the last five years Ive been shopping here, and they management was quick to rectify and understand my experience.They have top notch customer service and nice friendly staff. MBS sent a couple of young men to provide mobile support for a 200 mile race that I participated in and I was impressed with their desire to sincerely help all of the riders with whatever they needed. Roadside cheers and encouragement, water, food and just peace of mind that if I needed anything they would be right around the corner. Their level of professionalism and concern for our welfare was not something I was expecting for a couple of young men of barely legal drinking age:) Thank you guys for making my ride all that it could be...EPIC!

There is no better place to buy a two-wheeled love machine. Road, mountain, whatever you want, they’ve got it. I’m from out of state and bought a Specialized eMTB from these folks and the service was top-notch. Ive always had great service when buying a bike, having mine tuned up and just talking about bikes, training or routes to ride. Any issues or concerns Ive had were immediately addressed and the resolutions exceeded my expectations. I would recommend them over and over again.

I have been making the trip from Bloomfield, NM to Durango, CO to do both mountain bike and road bike business with the staff at Mountain Bike Specialists for over 13 years now. Their friendly and professional staff, from Darian, John, Mike, and Heath, make every single visit enjoyable. I have never once had to worry about the quality of their mechanical work, from changing cranks and forks, to tune-ups and wheels. Mike even took the time to jump my truck when it was dead 15 minutes from the shop. If you are looking for a fantastic bike shop with friendly and professional staff, this is the place.

Our family has bought at least 7 bikes and lots of equipment from Mountain Bike Specialists over the past 12+ years. The service has always been excellent. MBS is very careful to match needs and wants with just the right bike and gear. For my most recent bike, John Glover said he would work with me until I was completely satisfied. We worked on a few changes and my bike is perfect! The experience was just as good! I enjoy walking in there knowing that I am assured great advice, service and stuff.

I recently spent two weeks in Durango on a Mountain Bike Vacation. After a close study of reviews and word-of-mouth referral, I rode in to MBS and bought a nice new set of wheels, hot-swap accessories, and lots of bits and pieces. The wheels were special order, and required difficult custom in-shop mods to make them work. The Service Department here has the expertise, tooling, persistence, and Gusto to manufacture a solution to a competitors inherent design flaws. Amazing in this day and age. Quality Service! I do not own a Specialized bike, I have a brand “X” ... caliber, that has inherent design issues which make fitting aftermarket wheels a challenge...not to mention, poor quality (soft), non-heat treated, weak anodized parts that I consider defective. Mountain Bike Specialists Service Department is a cut above, and they are capable of repairs and fabrication that other shops can not attempt. Special thanks to The Lead Tech...”Tad” for a major effort ... My wheel set up is unique, fast, clean, and cool looking. I will return next season to look at a Specialized 29er to replace my Trek. The Service Department has earned my business!

When we where moving to Durango I was in process of purchasing a used, very high end bike on E-Bay (Ive e done this s few times with great results) and had it shipped to MBS. When it arrived it had been minorly damaged in shipment, as diagnosed by MBS staff. We formulated a plan, and they flawlessly executed in my absence.Since we have moved to Durango MBS has been my shop of choice. It s part shop and part museum, with bikes and jerseys from Durango area locals like Ned Overend, Todd Wells and Bob Roll lining the walls. Ned hangs out at the shop and their head wrench represented the US and the World Champions. All of the staff are aficionados. IME you just dont get this depth of knowledge and customer service at any shop.MBS is the top shop in a cycling mecca. It is definitely worth a stop in if you are visiting Durango, or making it your go to shop if you reside here.

MBS has been my go-to bike shop as long as Ive lived in Durango. Their staff is knowledgable and friendly, and work hard to turn bikes around as quickly as possible. Despite the multitude of brands and products in the industry today, Ive consistently been blown away by their knowledge and expertise. Above all, MBS is made up of good people, and I find myself swinging by often just to shoot the breeze.

MBS is a great a great bike shop! Ive purchased several bikes and a lot of equipment there. The staff are helpful, friendly and extremely knowledgable. I always take my bikes to MBS for maintenance and have had custom bike fits there that have made riding a lot more comfortable. I would recommend MBS for all your cycling needs.
