This traditional American restaurant is a pretty good place. Very popular with local people. But ... At first we waited 20 minutes to get inside. This is fine. It was Saturday, 7 pm. But then we waited 40 minutes for our order. I twice asked the waiter to bring bread. To no avail. There are many visitors. There are few waiters. At the end of a busy day, they are very tired and irritated.
It was definitely enjoyable! The food was great! They observed all the Covid safety protocols! Their recent renovations looked great! They warned of staff shortages but when we were there, service was very good, friendly & prompt!
Food was fresh and delicious! The kids loved the mac and cheese and the banana split was a hit for the whole family. We went on a Sunday evening, and it was pretty busy. We were sat right away, but the food took a little long to come out. It didnt bother us as the service was still great. Just keep in mind when visiting, that you might need a little patience. The wait was well worth it.
Allwood Diners menu got better. I ordered Sautéed Eggplant Parmigiana and it was excellent and it was good enough for 2 people! Food remains delicious, and theres a wide variety of desserts! Service is excellent. The diner itself is clean. When napkins or utensils fall on floors, crew members pick them up quickly. Last time I was here was when I ate with my husband four years ago, when we used to live in Clifton. He passed away 3 years ago. Its nice to experience good food again, even when I am eating alone.
I just went here with my family and I loved the place. The staff were exceptional and professional. Cindy was our waiter she was courteous and welcoming. I will come here again with my extended family to have a good time.
If I could give this place 10 stars I totally would. Me and my best friend wanted to try this place out since it had so many great reviews online and I do not regret this choice at all. The staff is extremely friendly & welcoming ! The food is so fresh and tasty. I was honestly blown away. If there is anything that you must try from this place, its their carrot cake. They make it in house and its moist, not too sweet and literally TO DIE FOR ! I had to take a piece home so that my mother and husband could try some. I will definitely be returning to this place again and telling all of my friends & family how great their food & service is. Thank you Allwood Diner for an amazing meal!
This place is always terrific, love their lobster ravioli! Also their cheesecakes are the best I’ve ever had. The staff is always kind and patient, and the owner is wonderful towards prior military. I have been coming here for 5 years and will always come back, service like no other
The wait time is a bit brutal but totally worth it. Ive never had a bad plate in the 3 years Ive visited. The staff is very professional and the food is great. The coffee could be better but as a coffee addict Im just picky about it.
The Allwood Diner has long been a stand out restaurant in Clifton. Not only is the food always fresh and delicious, portions are huge. The one the most important features of this establishment is the kind and caring people who own and are employed here. You will never be disappointed in the food, service, or the people associated with The Allwood. My family and I have enjoyed many great breakfasts and lunches over the year. Not to mention the fantastic rice pudding.
We went there for the first time last night. I have to say, one of the best diner I have ever been. Especially there were couple of things which made me write this review:1) The management is very caring and knows how to treat their guests. I went there with my two little girls. Host told us that it was a 20 minute wait time. We were waiting on the sitting area. Dennis, I believe he is the manager or owner, came at least 5 times to say sorry for the delay.2) Food quality was excellent. All the foods came out perfect. Especially their Calamari with Thai chili and new philly steak egg roll was exceptional.3) Dennis was walking to all the tables checking on the guests, which shows they care about the experience you are getting.4) It was very busy and all the servers were continuously checking to make sure there is no issue in every table.Overall i am very impressed and look forward to have our next meal there again soon. Dennis, well done, impressed the way you took care of the guests.
The cheesecake is to die for!! Skip dinner go for the cheesecake first!!!Waitresses are a bit scary more than friendly. But the cleanliness and food is fabulous.Take out, delivery, dine in all just flawless
Tables were separated. Servers & bus person cleaned very well after customers left. Servers were very helpful even the manger came over to ask if everything was good. We had the special short ribs & Spinakopea; all were very good. I will be back for desert they looked so good in the display. We didnt have the room for the extra deserts this time.
So going from home to church without breakfast then afterwards to church hurts. Stopping here at Allwood Diner made it me glad even if the drive to work took long. Wish they can cook a tad bit faster but still give it 5 stars. I mean look at that presentation. Would recommend take out and/or Dining in.
Just left .. last minute craving a delicious home cooked meal but was too tired to cook!! had Cesar salad and highly recommended salmon and spinach it was bangin!!! my daughter enjoyed her chicken pesto penne as well.... very clean and comfortable.... will definitely return!! it was recommended to me and im glad!!

Top notch Jersey style diner,very clean and fast service,had breakfast for lunch,pancakes were one of the better that I have had,need to get back and try more stuff.
Rude hostess at the front refused to give me my Uber Eats order because...well I dont really know why. She seemed to have a hard time believing I was who I said I was. Im not going to provide 6 points of I.D to pick up my takeout like Im at the DMV, so I threw in a refund and a complaint with Uber Eats and happily took my business elsewhere. The foods OK here, but being told I cant have my dinner (which Id already paid for) after working an 11 hour shift really rubbed me the wrong way.Would recommend an attitude adjustment for the hostess, assuming you actually want peoples business.

I was in NJ for my sister funeral and came to the dinner almost at closing time, Dennis and his staff, treated me with kindness and compassion and didn’t know how else to accommodate me, thank you 🙏 guys will be visiting you again, until next time . Not your typical diner!! Food is amazing, friendly staff and incredible deserts. I am often asked to recomend something..the whole menu! If you get the chance go..and if you go some all time favorites are the Sautayed Eggplant Parmesan & Chicken Al A Oscar! Enjoy everyone!
A coworker ordered breakfast for us from The Allwood Diner and I was impressed with the quality of the food. It was delicious to say the least.i definitely will visit the location to get a firsthand look (and taste) of their other menu items

This is one of the best diners in new jersey. i have been coming here since i was a kid and this is my favorite place to eat in the area. everything on the menu is great and the renovations look great!

I ordered grilled Buffalo chicken salad online and they gave me a fried chicken salad. They also did not include utensils in the ordered. Salad was mediocre and had a lot of brown leaves. DO NOT EAT HERE.
This diner never gets their outgoing orders correct always missing items or the orders are wrong . Very disappointing. I will nor order again since this is the 3rd time this happened. Additionally food has been going downhill for outgoing orders anyway.
My partner and I come here atleast once a week for breakfast or lunch. Amazing service, great prices and the food is delicious. Not to mention they have great specials and the portions are big. There is no wonder the place is always packed around lunch time. A good time to come here is right after the lunch rush has calmed down. Their desserts are also amazing! You can tell I love them right 😋 their only caveat is that they dont have alot of space in the front to wait for a table. So if it is packed it will be hard to find a spot to stand and wait. Especially during the winter months.
This place is very accommodating, and has a great menu! Good food, and very friendly staff! It was a long wait on a Sunday, because so many people come here then, but always enjoy being here!
I liked that they had several gluten free options. Diners dont always offer this. I ordered a burger, and to my relief, I could get it with gluten free bread. It was good. But that they charged me $3 for 2 slices of gluten free bread, and separate for lettuce and tomato...that was whack. Also, if you love apple crisp like I do, this is not the place to order it. They make it like apple pie in like a giant taco shell lol and it was not great. Their other desserts looked pretty good though.
I dont need to drive two hours to Philly for a cheesesteak allwood dinner has the cheesesteak I was looking for a years.

I was extremely dissapointed last nite 8/30/21. I LOVE this place: go there for their breakfast mainly & decided to do dinner with my kids to give it a try. We ordered the lasagna (bland), chk parm pasta (BIG portion/good), pulled pork tacos (would be better without bbq sauce)side rice was not good & seafood broiled (overcooked & NOooo flavor & crab cake tasted like perfume : ( The side salads were so watery. Not sure what happened. The Kitchen staff must have had a bad day. We actually left most of the food there except for the ChkParm pasta-that was actually not bad my daughter said. We are HUGE FOODIES & my kids said they dont want to do dinner here anymore. Sad to hear. I will stick to breakfast & desserts going forward: no more dinner.

This has been very comfortable, pleasant and friendly place to dine for many years. They have a wide ranging menu of good food and desserts.
Food and price were great, however service left me feeling like they were doing me a favor. I walked in with my girlfriends an waited for wait felt like a minute our two while employees had a conversation before being greeted. Once seated service seemed a bit delayed, nothing egregious.

My boyfriend and I had such a great experience at Allwood Diner. Came for dinner, I had their NYC panini and my boyfriend had the 3 cheese burger. Both were wonderful size portions and very delicious! Their strawberry cheesecake was PHENOMENAL. Dennis is such a nice guy, and heather our waitress was very sweet. Wonderful first experience will definitely be back!
I really wanted to like this place especially after reading all these reviews. But everything we ordered was very bland and almost tasteless.

Only giving it 4 stars because we havent tried dinner or lunch yet. But so far 5 stars for me. It was great! We had turkey sausage omelet with home fries and toast. Husband had pancakes and sausage. Cooked well done, nothing under cooked. Food well seasoned, not over powering. The sausage is huge and has a honey grill taste thats divine. The diner is very clean! No old diner smell, renovations are tasteful. Bathroom (womens as far as I know ;-) ) is immaculate. I went in holding my breath and didnt have to. That through me off ha ha. Tables, windows, condiments tray all clean and not dusty. We really enjoyed our time here and will definitely be back. Oh! For 2 people with 1 drink and coffee, bill came up to $19 and some change. Thats a steal!

Lukewarm to cold food. It taste like it was already cooked and put done for a time. The hasbrowns and eggs had that old taste. Nothing I ordered was hot! Will not go back, and breakfast is expensive there.

Very nice outdoor sitting. Every table is completly covered so even if it rains youll be okay. Their food, that Ive had so far, is delicious. So delicious I couldnt even take a picture. It was a salmon mango salad. It was great! I didnt even need dressing.

I absolutely love everything about Allwood Diner! Its one of my Favorites! Their Cheesecake is Amazing along with any of their other Deserts! Sometimes I am in the mood for a Milkshake and, am never disappointed. The Food is huge portions and, its not your typical Diner Food. Its Pasta Dishes and, Chicken over Rice. Can I tell you about the Waffle Fries!! Seriously, they are a most!!

Owner/Host was amazing: getting people seated as fast as possible.Getting side chairs for waiting elderly to relax in the shade until their table is ready.Chatting with people, both sitting and waiting online.He was amazing!
