Java Jive is a local treasure. Daniel and JieMin have created a great place for socializing and imbibing handcrafted and flavorful coffees, teas, and smoothies. Don’t waste your time and money at SBUX. Go local! Go Java Jive!

Today I visited Java Jive for the first time. It’s very small and cozy with eclectic furniture and decor. It has a smooth and relaxing atmosphere and affordable beverages. They also feature artwork and pottery by local artists. I really enjoyed my strawberry with a milk cap. This will definitely be a meeting spot for my friends and I in the future!

Java Jive is wonderful quaint break from franchised coffe shops and cafes. They make their own pastries, their drinks are perfect. No too sweet and flavorful. Plenty of seating options to meet your needs. A meeting, a quick cup, or a love seat. You can buy paintings from living local artists. Highly recommend checking this place out.

The best coffee/tea shop in all of Raleigh is this hidden gem called Java Jive. If you are in to loud, high traffic, or corporate owned coffee houses then this isnt the place for you. Java Jive is friendly, quiet, charming and full of coffee romance for the true experience of why we drink coffee. The owners of this small coffee shop actually work in the shop and their touch is throughout the store. They actually remember their customers names. If you are in to smoothies... WOW! Make sure you try their blueberry/protein smoothie! UNBELIEVABLE!!!

New owners and wow what a great place! Today was my first time here and so glad I stopped. Loved everything about this place - atmosphere, decor, goodies, and of course the coffee! But I especially loved the new owners. Super sweet people. They are featuring local artists monthly and even featuring some elementary school artwork. So cute. I was there a while working from my laptop and never felt rushed. I even loved the music they play... I think I found my favorite new coffee shop!

What idiot starts a business on majority small fare drinks then doesnt accept the most common method of payment. Youre overcharging for the coffee as it is! If you cant pay your transaction fees get a different processor or charge more, dont turn away customers. This is idiotic. This place will either change its practices or go out of business all together, i hope its the former but it will likely be the latter seeing the other reviews on these idiots.

This was my second visit. I won’t be going back. The cashier is NOT friendly or helpful at all. When we asked her if a pastry had cinnamon she said “I have no idea.” And blankly stared at us. I asked her if she could find out and she seemed annoyed. She managed to ask someone else who was also not sure what was in the apple pastry. So we got one and pointed to another one and ordered 2 hot teas. The cashier was unwilling to walk them back to us and seems like she hates her job. I don’t go goCoffee shops much, but after spending 11.00 on this place, I won’t ever go back. The pastries tasted about 3 days old. We could not even eat them at all. The tea water was boiling hot. It was not a great experience. The good thing about the place is the atmosphere and it’s decorated nicely. No one goes into a small, neighborhood coffee shop expecting to be treated poorly. There is too much other competition in the area.

Cute neighborhood coffee place, young lady @ counter was very nice and polite but....If u want brewed coffee better get there by 11am!. I walked in @ 11:45 and got the last cup of brewed coffee which wasnt hot. I been told it was last batch for today which was strange since they open till 5 pm and a pot of coffee to brewe cost less than $2 to $3 ( I should know, I had 4 coffee houses). Its pity since I love the place and the coffee seem very good

This is a great place to relax and get some studying done. The service isnt fast but thats not something I would expect from a coffee shop like this one. It has a great staff that is always up for a chat. Compared to coffee corporations everything is reasonably priced. They use a manual espresso machine which I think makes their espresso drinks taste better. Their fresh made bakery items are very delicious as well. Great place to sit day and enjoy your coffee. My only complaint is that I wish there were more power outlets near the tables.

Good coffee and pastry selections. The owner is nice enough, but she definitely has her “favorite” customers which makes others feel a bit out of place - even those who come regularly. I only gave 3 stars because their hours are not consistent. Was supposed to meet someone for a discussion on Monday, but we arrived to “closed today from 1pm - 3pm.” I get that as a small business owner might have trouble staffing their shop, but I’ve arrived before to a “closed” sign. Also, they require $5 minimum purchase to use a card. Again, I get that as a small business, you have to watch your pennies, but it seems poor business practice to turn people away if they don’t have cash.

Best coffee around. But now wont accept credit cards or debit cards for under 5.00. I go out of my way to go there but never carry cash, so essentially they are losing my business. Bad idea in the new cash free society we now live in. I would advise accepting debit cards as there are no fees associated with debit cards or risk losing many coffee loving customers. Pity as now my only other choice is Star Bucks :(

Great coffee. Grumpy staff. Ive been there twice and the most recent time, the lady behind the counter was having a spirited conversation with a regular, laughing and conversing. I waited patiently until they finished and he walked out the door, expecting her to smile and wait on me in the same jovial manner. Instead I got a frown and the distinct impression that I had done something wrong by coming into the shop to order a coffee. No greeting. No apology for making me wait to pay for a $5 cup of coffee. No smile. No pleasantries. No customer service that makes me want to return. The coffee was good, though.

Went on Saturday and got a mocha latte. Asked if it came with whipped cream and was told that it doesnt which is great because I loathe whipped cream. Went back on Monday and ordered the same drink, albeit a different clerk. When I took a sip, I immediately realized that it had whipped cream. I went back inside for a new one. The clerk didnt even try hide how pissed off she was. And told me that I should have let know before making it. When I explained that I had been there the day before and was told it didnt normally come with whipped cream, she smugly told me that they were closed on Sundays and that I obviously must have been elsewhere. I corrected myself and said i meant Saturday but she had already stormed off to the sink where she grabbed a spoon and removed the whipped cream and then handed me back the coffee. I said that I wanted a new one and she growled and stomped over and made another drink. When she was finished she left it at the end of the counter, came back to the register where i was waiting and said, its over there. Next. And procededp to help the next customer. Obviously, I will never go back. And both times I was there, the were out of many items on the menu. Tried to order a vanilla frappe and they were out of vanilla. Tried to order white chocolate and they were out. And apparently the clerk used up all of the whipped cream on my latte. Seriously, it was 8:17 am and they opened at 8:00am .

From the moment you open the door..to the lady with zero customer service (what do you want?)..to the fly on the pastries ..to the bland coffee. I will not be returning to this Java Jive. I walked in to meet a friend who works at Wake Tech and ordered a large coffee which costs $4.25, which was poured promptly. When informed of the price, I let the lady at the register know that I only had a credit card to pay with. She told me that she couldnt process a credit card payment less that $5. I had just eaten lunch and told her that all I had was a credit card again, to which she rudely replied that she couldnt accept that. I thanked her for her time and walked out. She wasnt apologetic or kind about any of it. Additionally, if they are trying to grow their customer base then they should accept debit/credit card purchases of any amount.

When I asked to get topped off the women looked at me like I was crazy and got the owner who said, topped off with what?! I said, coffee and she said, no, thats how we make them.. Really sad since I was looking for my new local spot, but inspired me to make cold brew at home :-)

The music was great... The rude woman at the counter had no idea what honey or natural processed beans are and couldnt get off the phone. Also no pour over available. The pre made black coffee had bubbles that would not go away at the top of the cup and began to crystalize. I tossed it and left. All of the food was prepackaged. Wifi password also didnt work. That could have been because again the time wasnt taken to properly communicate it.

Grumpy staff that couldnt care less if youre there or not and that includes the owner. Coffee is burnt tasting and inconsistent. Ive been there for over a year because of easy access but now they stopped taking credit cards for transactions under $5. Hello, we are rapidly becoming a cash free society. Youre heading the wrong direction. This move is always against the use policy that Visa and Mastercard have with merchants. If youre going to take credit cards then take them for everything. Bad move. You wont see me again...Funny thing is they probably dont care.

I was up all night with a two month old, out of coffee at the house, and thus got two kids dressed and in the car at 7am on no sleep and no coffee. Dropped 2 year old off at daycare and stopped at Java Jive for the first time. All I wanted was coffee...badly. I went in half asleep, holding my 2month old and after ordering a medium coffee I realized I only had one dollar bill in my wallet. I was told $5 minimum for credit card purchases. Even after explaining to the kid behind the counter that while I have no doubt that is their policy, he could in fact accept my credit card he still refused. I actually said in disbelief, So Im just going to walk out without coffee, to which he replied Yeah...sorry. It was a surreal experience. So I walked out (still carrying the sleeping 2 month old), went to Whole Foods and got coffee...with a CARD! Good job Java Jive on saving that nickel on processing fees! I go to a LOT of local coffee shops and the ALL accept cards. Coffee is a high volume / low $ transaction business. If in fact Java Jive pays exorbitant transaction fees, that is on them. It is absurd to choose a credit card processing plan that does not cater to your business. Needless to say, I wont be back and I will spread the word.
