The first time I visited General Optical, I had a pair of glasses that needed repair. I had not purchased them at General Optical. But they fixed them on the spot, at no charge, and with a smile. So, when I needed glasses, I went back. They have a fantastic selection of frames. Everyone there is very professional and kind. My eye care is thorough. I get my eye care from Dr. Klahsen, and both my husband and I purchase our glasses there.

Ive been going to General Optical for years. The service is top notch, the selection of frames is great and the knowledgeable staff are always helpful and patient. More importantly, my glasses always fit well and I never have any problems with new lenses.

I called at 10:30am on a Thursday to ask if they repair sunglasses. They booked me an appointment an hour later. Upon arrival, they immediately took my sunglasses to the back and appeared 5 minutes later with them in great shape. They answered my questions knowledgeably as well. Highly recommend!

They do a great job at General Optical. Dr.Klaussen was extremely thorough and very informative. I feel like the health of my eyes are in great hands. Thumbs up👍🏻If I had to mention one criticism it would be a general one. I wish the industry made it easier for Optometrists and Opticians to provide their patients with easier access to ordering frames that we want. This is not a knock on Dr. Klaussen and her staff. Dr. Klaahsen is amazing. She spotted the sign if a rare opthoneurological issue in my wife during a routine exam allowing for early treatment a few years ago and mire recently saw me immediately to diagnose a painful and distressing issue with my eye.I could not be more pleased.

The moment you walk into General Optical you are welcomed by 2 lovely women who make you feel at ease. I sat down and watched as they multitasked. They have a solid routine that is keeping everyone safe (Covid). They worked individually with clients and truly gave honest advice about selections. These ladies are experts.I was brought into the back to have my eye exams done. Again, the routine is well set. My exam was low key/no stress. The expert giving the exam was thorough, knowledgeable, and pleasant. Seamless!During my exam, my old glasses were tweaked and tightened by the only guy in the office! He quietly works, watching everything through his window while getting his “Honey Do” list done! Must be a saint!After, I saw the doctor. Dr. Klaahsen is the best! She is so friendly, putting me at ease AND she’s very efficient. SHE KNOWS HER STUFF! Dr. Klaahsen used the information from the exam and my feedback to send me on my way with new contacts that were perfect. I left the contacts in all day. No struggle.Great experience!!!

The staff is amazing. AMAZING. They are professional, kind, and have common sense safety measures for Covid-19 down to a tee. The staff knew more about the insurance that I had than I did and explained all of my options, then helped me pick out a pair of glasses that I love and were ready within 24 hours (!!). I loved my visit here! The office is welcoming as is the staff. I prefer a small shop to something that feels like a big box place. I switched from a different doctor because I felt like he rushed through my eye exam...resulting in a wrong contact prescription. I cant say enough about Dr. K though! She was informative, thorough, stern when she needed to be (Ill take my contacts out more often, I promise!) to get her message across - all in my best interest. Top to bottom this is a wonderful place. I felt very taken care of in a very organized and efficient manner. So happy to have found them

I love the small cozy atmosphere. It gives the experience a personal touch. Diane, my salesperson was fantastic! She was able to get me every penny out of my insurance coverage. I cannot say enough about Diane. She is great!The prices are a little high but you pay for what you get. All in all a fantastic experience and I will go back when my prescription changes.

I met with Crystal for an eye appointment and she was so caring and helpful. I hadn’t gottten my eyes checked in years and was a little scared to go to a doctor but she calmed my nerves. Also they have a great selection of glasses to choose from!

General Optical is the best. My son, my husband and I have been coming here for years to get our glasses. The owners Ron and Leslie are warm and knowledgeable. The staff is incredible- professional, competent, willing to offer opinions about styles with grace and wit. I just went for a new patient visit! The entire staff is friendly and accommodating here! Dr. Klaahsen is very kind and performs quick, yet thorough eye exams. A few years ago, I went to another local optician and couldnt order contacts until the end of the 3rd visit; I was in and out of General Optical in 45 minutes. Visit was expensive, but they set me up with some courtesy discounts and rebates to take the edge off. I cant recommend this place enough!

Excellent care, very responsive and professional. I go mainly for contact lens services, but have also called with little emergencies and they have always been able to work me into the schedule. I highly recommend them!

Very impressed with every staff member here, especially Dr. Klaahsen. She was very thorough with my eye examination and provided me with new answers to some of my questions/concerns. Based on my interactions with her, I can say she is diligent, very knowledgeable, and most importantly, trustworthy.The front office staff was also very patient with me when I was dealing with insurance confusion/issues. I felt welcomed there during my visit and even though my appointment was near closing tie, I never felt pressured to leave.They also sell contact lenses at a competitive price unlike most practices I have been to in the past and for that I was more than happy to buy my year-long supply through them. They also were able to cut my new lenses and fit them into my old frames within a day - something that usually takes a week or more.Bottom Line - I highly recommend this place to anyone looking in the Greater Boston area!

I can not begin to tell you how wonderful they are. Quick to serve, always friendly, and timely with orders. Ive met with several doctors, but Dr. Klaahsen came in big when I came in during renovations. I planned to work all weekend and the hours were conflicting, so I wouldnt see my new Persols for 3 more days 😥 Called up and she was quick to answer and allowed me to grab my order despite all the other crazy stuff going on in the store.Thank you for the great experience 🤓👍💯

I have a very complicated prescription and General Optical is the only place I would go to get new glasses. Expensive but you get what you pay for, in other words your exact prescription and great service.I had previously bought glasses in a big store in Harvard Square and the astigmatism was 15 degrees wrong - so am a convert.JH

Dr. Klaahsen is excellent. She makes clear recommendations, her clinical skills are impressive, and she does her job very well ! I went just to get prescriptions and a lens fitting, and walked out knowing a lot more about my eyes, contacts that finally feel right, and the best annual exam I have had yet.
