Gentleman that answered phone was abrupt and when I asked for a quote on a transmission making noise,, he just threw a number out 5k and said they were busy so car wont be getting fixed anytime soon. He didnt ask a few questions to see what was wrong he just heard transmission I believe.

Website was easy to navigate and I received a timely response from Randy via their contact form. However, the quote was a bit out of my range for an out of vehicle transmission rebuild.

I took my car to the nearest place when my transmission was going out, which was a car dealer. They diagnosed it wrong and my repair would have been astronomical. After calling a few places and being drug around by random quotes and timeframes I called these guys and Randy? I think, was straight to the point, explained the whole process, gave me an exactly quote, time frame and had free towing pick up my vehicle. We have been to three different shops and one of them being a Chevrolet dealer ship. All three ships confirm that the transmission needs to be replaced or rebuilt. We have the paper work that backs this theory. When we took our van to this shop and dropped it off we were assuming they were going to fix the problem. The problem acts up on hills and we told Randy and this four times. So when he goes in a test drive around his shop where there are no hills, the problem isn’t there. We even told him he can go with us to see the problem in person as it happens. He told me twice he would go when with us. We take a Uber and waste money twice going to this shop on Uber. When we get there he doesn’t want to go and tells us to drive it until it breaks down than he will know it has a problem. He doesn’t want to believe any of the other shops or me. The transmission slipped as we left the store yesterday and he doesn’t want to listen or believes us. But he wants people to take him at his word. Like he’s the great know it all. I am the son of a master mechanic and have owed over 70 cars in my life. I think I know when the transmission is going out. It’s been confirmed by three other shops. But he doesn’t want to believe them or that. You can’t do business with someone who sees life like this. He’s a liar and lazy! He races cars and if he knows his car has an issues he replaces it. I want to do the same thing and I’m a lair to this Turkey. Ok lesson learned. We did get it in another shop for the same rate that saw and get the problem with us in the car. They took the time to go with us and felt the problem. All he had to do was go on a ride along with us and he could have made good money. Instead, everyone is a liar and he’s the only transmission expert in this city. According to him! Narcissism at its finest!

They said that they could fix my transmission the first time they tried they forgot to check the transfer case and it made a strange noise witch I later found out was parts put back in the wrong order then it went again shortly after I got it back they changed me again when it was the workmanship that was the Cause of the transmission failure they tried again both times telling me they had to send parts off when they didn’t and I also found out later they should have put a new transmission cooler in and flush the System which they never did altogether their ability to work on transmissions cost me $14,000 and it was still not repaired I highly do not recommend these people he claims he has 30 years experience or more I believe he’s got 30 years experience ripping people offUltimately I lost the business I was trying to start and lost everything I owned and he does not care

I recently needed some transmission work done on my 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix. Because of the scope of work I needed I was shopping around online looking at different quotes from transmission shops. I called up Affordable Transmission and spoke to Randy. He took his time to tell me in detail what I was to expect in getting services from his shop. He explained to me he personally rebuilds the transmission himself and most shops just install a rebuilt transmission off the shelf. He also warranties his work for 3 yr 36,000 miles. The other shops only did 1 yr and 12,000 miles. And his prices were comparable to the other quotes I received. I was also amazed that he quoted me 2 days for the repair, and it only took 1. Overall I am very satisfied with the service I received and will be sending my friends and family to Affordable Transmission in the future. Thanks again Randy!!

I can do a better review once I get my vehicle back. Going through my service contract to get my vehicle fixed which is a headache because I have to pay over $800 out of pocket. I had to wait for a transmission from Wisconsin because the warranty companies will only pay for parts that has a 6 month 6,000 mile warranty.The day my car was supposed to be done I got a call that the part didnt arrive an was never sent that it was on will call, the day after that I didnt hear anything hoping they had the part an fixed it which was the case. So I get a call today a day and a half later to find out that they thought the repair shop was going to pick up the part an that the transmission is bad and that Tandy is waiting for a call back from the warranty department to do a claim and that the part could take another five days even though it was delivered late an only took one day.I cant get my car until its completely fixed for rgr warranty company to send payment.Randy has been telling me whats been going on an I understand but another week or so, the replacement part should be rushed because he said the junk yard made 2 mistakes with the last shipment. I really understand but the wait is getting hard because Im already using my sons Birthday money to repair our car because I got an okay service contract.I will continue to be patient and understanding. Ill offer to pay for it to be rushed again because another week will not work.

Just got my truck back from having it serviced by Randy here. We got service that you dont get out of more expensive places and his prices were unbelievable. The work was done very quickly. I called and spoke with Randy about the transmission on my 1999 Ford Taurus Wagon. I appreciate the phone time he gave me (almost 10 minutes) and his honesty about my particular car situation. My transmission slips if I accelerate too quickly. It is in need of some other repairs also. He explained the most common problems with 1999 Taurus wagons in terms I could understand and in the end, recommended I consider buying a different car. I would recommend Randy to any of family or friends.

30 days has gone by and my chevy impala transmission still works!!! I can honestly say the shop name speak for itself. He seriously was the only affordable shop in the metro within my budget. With warranty included, which I could not find any other shop with the same deal. Also he came across 2 other damaged parts that was not apart of my transmission. Of course I was not expecting any other damage besides what I brought my car in for. He helped me out and worked with me to make it affordable as well I appreciate that. Last thing he does not only install your transmission he also brings you in and educate you. If you cant handle honestly, go drive your car to the stealerships and have them charge you an insane arm and leg. I brought my 4l60e transmission out of a 2002 silverado 1500 in for a full rebuild, added a shift kit, and upgraded sunshell. i could not be happier with it. 3 years of hard use and 100,000 miles and it still shifts like id did the day i got it (shift kit is well worth it for hauling, it shifts like a rock)I would recommend affordable transmission to any one looking to get a grate transmission rebuild quickly and affordably.the best part is that they saved all my old parts, and showed me exactly what components in the transmission had failed and why.

After being stranded the guys at the shop towed my car in and stayed late to fix it ... the best part it was still cheaper than the other shop who did not care that I was stranded....great job!!!!!!

Randy gave us great advice, as my teenage son was working on his own transmission. He took the car for a test drive with us and told him what was likely wrong with it and what it would take to fix it, giving us an estimate on how much it would cost if he fixed it and giving us advice on where to get parts if my son decided to fix it. No pressure, he said to take some time to think about it. My son and I followed Randys advice, found a remanufactured tranny and replaced the tranny ourselves. Works great! I went back to thank him. He is extremely knowledgeable with 35 years of experience and it shows. Highly recommend Randy for any car work.

Great place for car repair

I just called affordable transmissions for questions about repair of a Honda civic transmission and this guy said that is better put an used transmission instead rebuild mine (only needed replace 5th gear because poop outs) he said rebuilding my transmission would be really expensive, also he mention he doesnt mess with this transmission, what that heck? its a transmission shop. so be carefull if you go to this place to repair your transmission they may do it the easy way, install a junk yard used transmission instead to fix yours.

My college age daughters transmission was acting erratic and I was looking for a transmission specialist and I came across Randy at Affordable Transmission so I gave him a call. Brought my 2005 Chevy Trailblazer to him and he did a no charge analysis of the problem, which turned out to be an issue with the transmission and school me in what the problem can be as well as what he was going to do to correct the situation. Which I found quite refreshing compared to what I have received from other repair shops. Randy repaired my daughters transmission in the time frame he said it would be done in. Pick up the car and he proceeded to go over the parts that were replaced in the transmission and showed me the failed part that came out of my transmission. Randy has earned a new customer, being that I have four cars, three of them being older. Hhe will be getting a lot of work from our family. Now I live in Savage and intend on bringing my vehicles some distance for his service that should tell you how much I was impressed with his repair shop. Thanks Randy!

Was in and out in about 40 minutes, went to Valviline to do an oil change and theydsaid I needed one but they didnt have a tool that my Malibu needed, and my dealership wanted $191, came here and was only $130. Saved $60, and having to go way out to Frildley.

I had heard Randy also does performance transmission work, and through word of mouth I learned his reputation was good. After some talking back and forth, I felt comfortable enough to leave my 1972 Chevelle with him so he could improve on my non-original overdrive transmission shifting characteristics (it was from a 1992 suburban). When I dropped it off, he reassured me it would be well taken care of (it was), and I would be very happy with how it would be calibrated (I am). I will absolutely recommend Randy to anyone who needs tranny work done-both late model vehicles and older ones. He was very fair priced, and it took less time than I had planned. He explained what he did to it and respected my almost 40 year old car like it was his own. Thanks Randy!
