Purchased Barbacoa tacos and they had pieces of aluminum foil in them. Thank goodness I opened them up to put salsa on them before I ate them or else I would’ve eaten pieces of metal.

This is a nice Mexican food store. Vegetables are fresh. Meat section has all kinds of meat. The staffs are nice, they are very poor in english. Getting help is difficult bcz of the language barrier. The prices are reasonable. Also, it is in a good location.

First off, when I walked in, I did not feel a welcoming environment. I was stared at an though, Was I the first Black person to walk in?I had seen the store but felt no need to go in, I am not a Mexican cook, but I love the food😍🤤 My church, order this huge spread. The food was so fresh and so good it was like Wow,let me go get me a plate dinner oneday soon- Even told other friends about it..So I come!I stood waiting to be waited on, greeted or something, nothing! When one of the workers finally ask me what I needed, I could see clearly that she could not speak English well.I kinda pointed to what I wanted. Her phone ring she answered it, it was not a distressing call, casual. She just walked off never raised a finger to say one moment, we all understand that motion. I took my unwantedself left.

And I also want to shop and use some of the fresh ingredients they sale in there.

Kind of an adventure, food decent and reasonably priced, avoid the doughy bland hotpocket things. Many people behind counter have very limited English so pointing becomes necessary for communication if your Spanish is also very limited. Setting is a busy lunch counter inside the grocery store, lots of tables but still can get full sometimes. Fajita plates are a good choice, or tacos. All standard dressings are available.

I can always get fresh produce and reasonably priced meats. They’re always cleaning and restocking (pulling less desirable produce) which is something I never witnessed before coming here. The cashiers aren’t the most friendly looking but once you break the ice they warm up. It’s my new go to spot for items I can’t just pick up from rouses, Walmart, Winn Dixie etc.

Their front doors are kept open while the store is open - I guess they are broken. Therefore, the temperature inside the market is very, very warm. NONE of the employees were wearing a face mask, most importantly, no one in the meat dept. was wearing a face mask. Also, the food displayed in the food to go dept. looked old. They had an aluminum foil tray on a countertop filled with one plastic bag of corn tamales, I guess for customers to just grab and go. That has to be against food temperature sanitation rules since they looked warm due to the steam building up in the bag. That was very unsanitary. I saw that and looked at the hot food behind the glass display and lost my appetite completely. Very gross. For the store being in the state capital, youd think they would follow the governors orders for all businesses dealing with the public to have employees wear a face mask. There were a lot of fruit flies in the produce dept. That is very unhygienic. Ive gone to their other store in Scott, LA, and that place is kept clean and cool. I was very disappointed with the lack of quality control of this supermarket. What was interesting is that they require customers in the check out lanes to follow social distancing rules yet not a single employee was wearing a mask. This was on Sunday, June 28th, 2020. Several customers wore masks. I will never return to this store again - it is kept too hot inside, lots of fruit flies in the produce dept (which will come home with you), and it is unkempt all round. Im Mexican American and I was very disappointed with this store. Its like the owners dont give a damn about this store. Guess Ill be going to another competitors latin market. Dont bother shopping here. Its disgusting.

This is both a fantastic grocery and a great place to get lunch. The counter has a variety of meats like shredded beef, pork, al pastor, which you can get as a plate or in tacos. If you want to eat there, get your drink first (coolers are by the food counter, and there are lots of choices). When youre done, go shopping. Be sure to go to the meat counter in back -- you wont believe the selection. The staff speaks both English and Spanish, which makes shopping easy. This place is huge, so make time to look around.

I was also hoping to find very cheap vegetables like I have found an other Mexican supermarkets that I have shopped at in the past, but no such luck on this Avenue either. As far as service went, there was one register open and a ton of people in line. I would not recommend to the store when there are plenty of other stores around.
