A great place for breakfast on the west side of downtown. They just opened a second parking lot which makes it an easy place to meet up. I really enjoyed my breakfast sandwich with impossible sausage. And it’s really awesome that they don’t upcharge for the vegan option! The ambiance is great. The whole place is built around a massive majestic tree. Sitting next to it makes my day every time.

By far one of my favorite places in Austin, Texas! The food is so fresh, and the ambiance inside has a cool, hipster vibe to it! Plenty of seating outdoors for your furry pets, too. The only thing that is disappointing is if you want to add to your order- you will most likely have to wait another 15-30 min, because no matter how many items they will take tickets in order they were ordered.

This is a half-service type restaurant. You order at the counter and they bring your food out. No checking up on you.The food was good. The chips and queso were delicious. The Buffalo chicken biscuit was tasty but too drenched in the Buffalo sauce. I couldn’t eat the bottom piece of the biscuit because it was so soggy. Retrospectively I wish I’d ordered it plain.

This is a great spot! I love they have their own parking lot and open early on Saturday’s. Great coffee and drinks. I’m their waffle has browns are a must! Outside and indoor seating. Dog friendly.

This might be the best brunch in Austin! Everything is cooked to perfection. The famous cauliflower tots deserve their reputation, as does their Better Half Breakfast Sandwich. Id add a sausage patty to the sandwich for a perfect balance of savory flavors. Also add one of their cocktails as a perfect round out of flavor. Everything is delicious and no choice is poor.

This better half breakfast sandwich was worth every add on and every penny. How about that double breakfast sausage?The presentation (which I was too hungry too wait to share) shows they are truly about a personal touch.I also tried the orange dreamsicle latte with oat milk that was perfect.I do like the laptop free zone so you don’t have to fight for seats with people that are making it their office space.BUT the bathroom was way toooo dark!!!!! I walked in the ladies bathroom thinking it would lighten up but it was super dark. Two stalls and you couldn’t really see like you need to while taking care of business.

We enjoyed our brunch! Cappuccino was delicious and the cauliflower tots were great! I thought the chicken biscuit was a bit too much buffalo sauce for my taste. I didnt know thats what they meant when they said make it spicy for $1. I would just get the regular one next time because the biscuit was great and I wanted more of that honey butter they had on it! We also had some donuts to share and they were so warm and yummy. Would definitely come here again! Felt very safe sitting outside in their tent!

Tasty counter service food and drinks with some desserts. Their cocktails were divine! My favorite was the vodka drink on draft and the peaches with haloumi cheese salad. Nommms! Easy parking the the attached lot or streets nearby.

Really cool place! The ambiance is nice the theme and food all great! But they really do need to get a more diverse staff especially in the front - Promote diversity in the workplace. We want everyone to be represented in the workplace, makes a more happier and comforting setting for POC

We made a reservation for 6 for an outdoor table. The host met me and brought me to a large picnic table with an umbrella for much needed shade. He gave me info about the water station and bathrooms. Our group started to arrive and we waited a long time for the waitress to arrive and take our order. Thankfully we had everyones drink and food order decided. It didnt take long for most of the food to come out except my sandwich didnt arrive for another 10 minutes. I was told it was held up by a bread delivery delay. The food was delicious and I ordered a cheeseburger to go as well. We then waited another 15 minutes for the waitress to pick up the check. All in all, the lunch was great, but the service was was very slow and inconsistent.

Order at counter, seating inside and out. Outdoor picnic tables have umbrellas for shade. Very pleasant spot for refreshment after a long hot day. Service was prompt, accurate, and attentive. Enjoyed the unusual dry ciders with gin botanicals. Would return on future trips to Austin.

Delicious place for brunch! Outdoor seating only with reservations required, I think there’s a 1 1/2 hour or two hour limit for the table, not a huge deal. The staff were friendly and helpful. Everything we ordered was delicious but the biggest surprise were the cauliflower tator tot with beet ketchup. I could eat bowls of them and bowls of them.

They don’t deserve even one star in service. Part of my order was decaf coffee. In the middle of my meal I run out of coffee I went to the counter to order more but the person told me toGo to the end of the line that roughly would take me 20 to 30 minutes to order. The food is price and the minimum tip is 18% and you have to help yourself on everything. But I have to say the food was good. In my opinion good service is as important as good food.

Excellent outdoor seating area. Great for the dogs and kiddos to run around. I enjoyed seeing plant based chicken options and alternative milks for the coffee. Vegans rejoice!

This place was in my list for quite some time and I was disappointed when I finally visited. We ordered the hot chicken sandwich and the cheeseburger. Both had disgustingly soggy buns on the bottom. It took a little while to get service and had three different people wait on our table; no sure if this was by design or just an off day. The fries tasted like regular frozen fries and oversalted. The burger was also nothing to write home about. The chicken sandwich was pleasant and different but not scrumptious. Really great place to eat outside but the food and service themselves were not outstanding at all. Wouldnt recommend or go out of my way to visit again.

Great vibe and amazing brunch. Make a reservation, walk up tables are hard to come by. Parking is easier on 4th street, closer to Hold Out (which is equally awesome). Their biscuits, omg, crispy and golden brown, while still fluffy on the inside.

I can’t say enough great things about Better Half. The cocktails are amazing, the coffee is delicious, and the food is spectacular. One of my favorite spots in town. The outdoor seating area is shaded by a beautiful tree, so it’s nice to sit outside - even on a hot summer day. Chill vibes and really great people.

The happy hour cheeseburger is only $5 and it’s soooo good! And the best part is happy hour starts at 1pm!The fries (also $5) didn’t survive the long drive home in the rain unfortunately. They were limp and soggy.I recommend dining there if you can (outdoor seating only right now during COVID).

Their flavored lattes and coffee were fantastic! The pastries were a bit of hit and miss, but even the ones that missed were still tasty. They just seemed worse in comparison to the great seasonal danish. The cauliflower was the best. Ill be back just for that!

Spontaneously dropped-in to Better Half two weeks ago and have been back 5 times! The free dedicated parking out front drew me in, and the great food, service, and atmosphere keep me coming back. Pro-tip: pour some of the award winning queso inside the burger... it’s a game changer. The cocktails are strong with a nice selection of house-made specialty drinks. See you next week.

Been here once before and it was just as yummy! They have opened their inside dining again so you have to order at the counter and pick a seat out front or in back if you want outside dining. They do also have plenty of parking in the back if you cant find some in front!

Love, love this place. Great coffee drinks, good food, lovely outdoor seating. They took Covid precautions seriously. I almost dinged them one star today because my cappuccino was unusually weird/unpleasant tasting. Not sure why and I am sure that they would have cheerfully replaced.

Great food and service. All the staff were friendly and helpful; quickly clearing tables and taking away empty plates. The cauliflower tots were very delightful, especially when dipped in the beet ketchup. We also loved their flaky, buttery, tinder biscuits. The salad was a nice mix of greens with feta cheese, hazelnuts and clementine segments. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the noise level. Inside is nothing but hard surfaces for voices, music and noises to bounce off of. Outside is better until a train goes blaring by. Overall the food and service outshine the noisy surroundings.

Looked like a cool place, but I came in 6 minutes before closing to get a coffee to go and they told me they were done serving. I would have never had that issue at Starbucks. I’ll just go there next time.

We showed up late in the afternoon on a Saturday without a reservation because we were just wandering around downtown after getting engaged, and the staff here were very friendly and welcoming and found us a table outside even though it was a busy time for them. It felt very safe covid-wise and the drinks were amazing. At the end, they brought us free doughnut holes to congratulate us. (They were probably the best I’ve ever had.) Highly recommend this place! Very classy and cool with an awesome waitstaff.

Was an hour wait for food but worth the wait. Cocktail and spicy chicken biscuit was excellent. Nice atmosphere.

We ordered the hash browns, the pastrami toast, fries, and a mimosa. The hash browns were terrible. The gravy is overpowering and too salty. The sweet notes clash with the potatoes in the hashbrowns to make an overall horrible dish. The mimosa was absolutely terrible as well - 0 flavor and super watered down. The toast was fine but nothing special about it. The meat was the only redeeming quality and even that wasn’t amazing. The fries were the only “yummy” food and even those were 5$. If you still want to come here for some reason do not order what we did.Don’t let the pictures fool you.

This place is perfect if you don’t want lots of loud and pretentious youngsters just spending extra cash to hang out and be loud and pretentious. Bordering on being low-key, they have select but consistently prepared select dishes with the right amount of uniqueness but without all the froufrou. So glad to see a nice cafe/restaurant/bar not overrun by self-absorbed (but outwardly projecting) individuals. You can enjoy good food and good drinks here with your friends.

The Croissants are to die for. So delicious, honestly. The space outside has plenty of room to hang out while you wait for your breakfast. I would say the only negatives are that the indoor space can not accommodate a large crowd and their coffee beverages are much smaller than what I expected for the price.

Great spot in west downtown. Parking is decent, the inside is not very large but there is an outside area as well.If you have a dog, you can still order at their outside window.Brunch good but a tad pricey. The wait for our food was an hour during brunch but much faster during noon peak hours.

This place is great! Loved the iced latte, cauliflower tots and veggie cheese burger. I didn’t jive with the first dish I ordered and the management was super sweet & understanding and got me something I loved. Would recommend to others for sure.

Really like the vibe at this new place! My boyfriend and I shared the hush puppies, crispy fried mushrooms and a burger. The burger was delicious! The hush puppies and mushroom were tasty and plentiful (couldn’t finish the mushrooms, and they could use a bit more seasoning or sauce). The draft cocktails are tasty and strong, and are ready in an instant. I was feeling great (and really buzzed) after a couple of the tequila cocktails! Nice patio area. Will be back!

Weve only had the cheeseburger and the chicken sandwich and both were really good. But you wont be writing home to mom to tell her about it. Once it gets hot as hell this summer, it will be an uncomfortable date night. Worth a try though, especially for $5 happy hour cheeseburgers.

The coffee: a bit too dark for my taste. It ends up being more bitter and beany than I would prefer. It wasnt bad, but it wouldnt be the force driving me back here.The shop: I like the aesthetic. Theres a huge window on one wall looking out at a nice big tree. The window also allows for some nice natural lighting. Its not a big place, but the seating is comfortable. Theyre set up in booths so it doesnt get too crowded. The people working there are also nice enough.Overall: when compared to other coffee shops in Austin, this place has specific appeals. The coffee is too expensive, the shop isnt too crowded, and theres nice amounts it light. I would come here for a quieter time.

We went for sunday brunch and it was outside on a nice patio with picnic tables, in the shade & with some fans. had the waffle iron hash browns and they were delicious. great service and good coffee. parking was super easy, a lot in the front and a lot in the back. definitely best to make a reservation and I think you get an hour and 45 min for your table but it was the perfect amount of time for us. can’t wait to go back.

Super cute little coffee shop and cafe with excellent food and drink and plenty of outdoor seating. We wanted something sweet and something savory so we ordered the pastrami hash and the apple cider pancakes with pecan streusel and cultured butter. The pastrami hash has a ton of flavors going on that somehow meld together into a symphony of deliciousness. It’s a little spicy but the richness of the egg and pastrami balance it nicely. For the sweet part, we ordered the apple cider pancakes. There are two large pancakes with chunks of apple, a ton of pecan streusel topping, and a lump of cultured buttered relaxing in a pool of golden syrup. Every bite was delicious!

Not a coffee guy, but the Hot Chicken Sandwich was amazing. Definitely a good spot for a casual meeting.

Parking was pretty easy, food was good, the staff was not especially friendly. A lot of California want to be hipsters hanging out on the patio so if youd like that sort of thing then this is your place.

The happy hour cheeseburger stands up to any other cheeseburger Ive ever had regardless of price. But for $5 might be the best overall value Ive ever found. And their biscuits are also to die for. With incredible coffee and a nicely curated drink menu, this is one of the top 3 or so stops in Austin for me.

Take out was first class. Great ending spot for a bike ride near the river. We loved the fantastic fried chicken, made even better by the dipping sauces. The beet ketchup was even better than I was expecting.The croissants melt in your mouth. Try them yourself.We’ll be back soon!

This place has always been on my list of to try. Finally had the opportunity to and so happy I did. Worth the visit for a local spot, go to for great food and drinks. Havent had any coffee or pastries yet but will do soon. Parking on site with a huge dog friendly patio. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. Got this massive salad and it was great. Not pictured are a side of fries which we really liked because they seemed to be double fried a.k.a crispy/ well done. We sat on the patio which was packed, maybe bc of blues on the Green or the birthday party that was celebrating, but I was pleasantly surprised by the music as I heard Chance the rapper when I was heading to my table. Going back for the spicy chicken sandwich next time. 🐔

Swung by here on my lunch break and got a biscuit and buttermilk pie to go. The biscuit was warm, flaky, and incredible, and it paired perfectly with jalapeño honey butter. The buttermilk pie was good with a nice buttery crust, though I would’ve preferred a smoother custard filling. Will definitely return to try the breakfast sandwich next time.

The food was soooo good. I highly recommend trying the ribs. Unreal.I was pleasantly surprised at how much parking was available as well as seating. I tried their better than breakfast sandwich or something like that. My honest opinion is that it was over priced for what is was.... it lacked wayyy to much flavor, I do t even think it had salt. As soon as I took my first bite everything literally fell apart, which is a no for me as I am not a messy eater. Theres also a lot of birds in the area so that was not a good experience as they were all up in our space.

We stopped by here after dinner for a coffee. They were slammed so we went around back to order at their window. One of the staff members, Charlie, came to the window and very rudely told us they were really busy and it was going to be at least 20 minutes until they could get to us. We had time so we waited. During that time someone from our party went to the bathroom and heard her ask another employee if we were still waiting and then she said ugh I wouldve thought theyd leave. She finally came back and proceeded to tell us their espresso was broken and they could only do cold brew or drip coffee despite them using the espresso machine prior to taking our order. She clearly just wanted to serve the easiest most convenient thing for her. Over all very disappointed in how we were treated. Worst part is Charlie was the manager. Awesome leadership yall!

Very nice happy hour and wonderful place to enjoy food and drink inside and out. Their biscuits are wonderful and I loved the cheeseburger. 100% worth it. I will be back and look forward to tasting more of the menu.

Cool space, great food and has tons of free parking!This place has become a respite from traffic after work. They have possibly the most available free parking of any downtown bar/restaurant. If you make it in between 3pm - 6pm you can catch their happy hour which includes a delicious $5 burger (beef, chicken or veggie).Other faves are their biscuits, loaded queso and burnt cheesecake with cherries. They also make a yummy yuzu iced tea.The interior space is pretty small but they do have a large outdoor patio area with picnic tables and other seating options. Dog friendly.

Vast drink menu with $5 sangria in happy hour.On Tuesday, the day we went, wines list is half off and the waitress helped us choosing a bottle.For snacks, they do have a lot to choose from too : I recommend the cauliflower tots that were surprisingly good!Make sure you make a reservation if you want to go, they have a rotation for bookings and you cannot stay more than 2 hours.

This is a great brunch spot! They have a great selection of menu items for brunch and drinks. Their chips and Queso in particular are incredible. As a vegetarian, I found the menu to be limited – I could only order the breakfast sandwich. That being said, the breakfast sandwich is really really delicious and they’re able to modify menu items if requested. They have a ton of outdoor seating which is great during this uncertain time. Highly recommend!

We came here on a Friday afternoon around 5:30 and it was pretty busy inside but there was still plenty of seating outside.Came for an early dinner and settled on sharing a bunch of stuff.The cauliflower tots are A-mazing and the beet ketchup is also really good. The hush puppies I think were my favorite though. They had a really well balanced flavor and I loved the shishitos inside.We also got the pickle brined fried chicken and it was well cooked/seasoned but I felt it had an unnecessary amount of breading on it. The slaw that came with it was a good pairing to the heavy chicken. No complaints there.My son also got the burger and was quite pleased and said he would love to come back and have another.The parking situation is great for this part of town. I believe they have around 40ish parking spots right in front.Cant wait to go back for brunch!

Loved going to Better Half during the pandemic to meet friends for breakfast or lunch, as it felt safe and fun. However, both my regular items were removed from the menu, so I can really only go for drinks now.

When they were taking reservations I had a reservation of 12, made a month in advance. I get a call a week before cancelling my reservation because they were moving away from reservations. If you try getting brunch reservations in Austin for a group of 12, it takes minimum a month out. If youre the business see out your reservations then stop them, unbelievable.

Burger was a treat and an awesome beer selection. Great to sit out in the garden on a sunny day. Really great value during happy hour. Had a wonderful time here and staff were really friendly.
