What can I say, but Amen! Asheville Hardware is not a big box store. What it is is one of the last bastion of tools and materials for the do it yourself or, or a fine artist Woodworker.In a day and age, or it seems like everything is made in China or some other foreign country, this is one of the last refuges Of where the craftsman an artist meet.Their selection of wood, and various species from around the world Including domestics like black walnut and oak, make this truly a cornucopia of materials for the dedicated Woodworker. Whether Simply a wooden dowel or an entire slab of wood, this is a great place to browse and find that unique piece.In addition, They have an entire area dedicated to use woodworking equipment, which has been very helpful in completing my own workshop.What is even more important, is their staff. Truly, these individuals go far and above and beyond to help customers like myself. I literally cannot say enough good things about these incredible people and the support they have given me. And a special thanks to Dan.

The owner of this store owes my daughter and son in law money for slabs sold in store and still have slabs in store. They also owe them for two weeks of work cutting slabs for store in the stores own log yard. The owner has not been honest with them at all.

Must stop in Asheville. Beautiful live edge slabs. The tools are the right brands and plentiful. Very good prices. Neat spot.

Just had a great experience purchasing a Japanese pull saw from Asheville Hardware! As of today (15 Sept 2020), you still cant go in to browse, but so what? Most hardware stores around here are maskless hellscapes. I sent an email to ask what they had in stock and got a response in less than 30 minutes, then paid over the phone and picked it up.

In light of all the things happening right now, I have tried to be patient and have avoided writing this review. However, I purchased a $50 gift certificate sometime at the end of June as a demonstration of support (they have had this posted on their website since March). I have contacted the vendor several times as a follow up: emails are not responded to, it is literally impossible to leave a message since the mailbox is full, and Ive offered to pay and pick up without coming into the store. I get that things are hectic, but at this point I just want my money back. I feel I have been reasonable and all Im asking for is a response and a way to resolve this.But I wont be back.

Visitors beware - their showroom is closed and they are only doing business via phone and email with no showroom browsing - as a woodworker on vacation with all the recent positive review I went ahead with the hour drive to the store just to find out the showroom was closed. Wish this was communicated properly on google.

Why are you continuing to sell gift certificates to people. You know you cant fulfill them you are stealing peoples hard earned $$$$. My son did not know you closed your store front, you are unwilling to answer email or phone about purchasing something and your website does not have a spot to order. Beware of these people they are out to steal your money. My son spent $100 on a gift card and they wont answer.

Asheville Hardware is my favorite place to shop. I live in Lexington, South Carolina and I drive up about once a month to purchase wood or a tool from them, despite having a woodworking store only 20 minutes from my home. The selection and customer experience is just that superior. Do you want to feel as though you’re their neighbor despite not being a local? That’s how I feel. Their store manager remembers me even though I’m only in there once a month. They get excited about the wood I pick out, despite it not being the most expensive wood in the store. To that end, I love that they don’t waste wood in any capacity. There are bins and bins of cut off scraps of every kind of wood you can imagine. I have purchased some truly lovely wood that’s perfect for my lathe at prices that my local store can’t touch. Wood that my local store doesn’t even carry, despite the wood being indigenous to our region! They also sell used tools along with the new tools and have the widest selection of tools that I’ve ever seen. This place is my Disney World. It’s the most magical and happiest place on earth.

I found that this store has tools in stock that aren’t available anywhere closer than Greenville due to Covid issues (Chinese switches being unavailable has caused a several month back order of the saw i wanted). Eli was extremely helpful and nice!

I have bought many tools both new and used here as well as really nice lumber. I have always been treated not just as a customer but as a fellow woodworker. All the employees have been really helpful and I highly recommend this store for your woodworking needs.

This is a great store dedicated to the art of woodworking. Full of cool tools, and a variety of products for learning this artistic trade.The manager Dan, was very helpful to me in getting just the right things for repairing a wood chair. He was great to work with and I appreciated the great customer service.This store inspires me to learn more about this creative skill.

How was Asheville Hardware? Are you kidding?! Its a treasure trove of woodworker tools (really) AND they have a terrific selection of exotic hardwoods at very good prices. Domestic woods are pricey. Extremely helpful service team. If I could afford it I would buy the store.

The owner of this store owes several vendors like myself thousands of dollars for wood he has sold that belonged to us. I urge everyone to avoid business with this guy, terrible business owner.

Love this place, cant say enough great things. Just for instance, I bought a Jet drill press and it had an issue with one of the screws, they swapped out the unit immediately and apologized for the inconvenience. Just great service and knowledge all around, and the used tools section in the back are tons of fun.

Beautiful store with excellent customer support, bought an axe and noticed it was missing a sheath and they contacted the manufacturer and had one shipped to me free of cost. Amazing, thanks again Dan!

Since their inception and first home at the Wicked Weed location Ive been a huge fan. The staff has always been helpful and knowledgeable and their woodworking tool selection is the best around. Every piece of wood is dried or sanitized in a kiln. This is very important to me as I own Natures Knots Custom Furniture. Thank you Asheville Hardware for allowing me to do what I love on a daily basis...stand in sawdust and shavings

This is a woodworking supply store. They have a huge variety of supplies and are usually the same price that I find online. Much easier to stop by the store than wait several days for an order when I need a blade or a part. Sales people very helpful and casual. Also great lumber supply great prices

I was looking for a hatchet and heard great things about this store. So glad I stopped by...talked with a great guy (bad with names) but he took the time to show me an awesome selection of Gränsfors Bruk hatchets. By far the best selection I’ve seen in NC! Left with the wildlife hatchet and have been more than pleased with it. Awesome price, great product, super employees. Stop in!!

I gave AVL Hardware 5 stars because of the people who work there and their willingness to help you as much as they can. The Slab Wood selection is the among the best you will find anywhere.

When I asked a question last time I was in there the guy seemed annoyed that I interrupted him looking at his phone. Turns out, he didnt know what he was talking about anyway. Its a cool store and their prices are decent, but the staff seemed pissy and uninformed. Hire better

Do not know what this other guy is talking about. It is not Home Depot... just a fantastic wood selection and knowledgeable guys. They are not bartenders! I will be sending plenty their way. I have looked online for wood all over from NJ to CA. Glad I went and the pieces are even better in person. If you go, go around the corner to Vortex Doughnuts....damn good doughnuts and coffee. Almost like the wood you should buy.
